Chapter 4 Chapter 4: Find a Backer

940 Words
After coming out of the study, Mia went back to her bedroom. Alfred's bedroom was opposite to hers. On the first day she came here, Mrs. Li had arranged this room for her alone. Obviously, it was Alfred Xi's idea. Thinking of the conversation she had heard in the Qiao family today, it was probably because that Alfred really intend not to have any relationship with her. In this way, he could easily get rid of the Qiao family in the future and then send her back in good condition! For a moment, Mia felt depressed. She thought she was like a rubber ball that was kicked by others. Where would be her next stop? It might be a hell... At the thought of this, Mia clenched her fists and determined, "I have to grab this life-saving straw!" The next day was Sunday. Mia got up early in the morning and went to the City Hospital of Chinese Medicine. When she opened the door of one ward, she saw an old lady with grey hair leaning sideways, struggling to reach the warm water bottle on the ground. "Grandma!" Mia quickly walked over to her, helped her to lie down firmly, and gently blamed her, "Didn't I say that let the nurse pour water for you?" As she said this, she poured her a glass of water and looked around, but she did not find any trace of the nurse. "I gave her a day off!" The old lady knew that her granddaughter wanted to ask, so she explained first, "Granny Sun's grandson got ill and had a high fever. She had to go!" "You always think of others and suffer yourself!" Mia had no choice but to teak her granny's hand and sat down on the bed. She was raised by her grandmother and was taken away by the Qiao's family until she was 15 years old. Three years ago, her grandmother came from Jiang Nan to visit her and lived with her for a few days. Unexpectedly, when she was shopping with her grandmother, a van rushed into the red light and hit them. Her grandmother pushed her away, but got seriously injured herself in order to protect her. In the past three years, she has done a lot of operations, which tortured the healthy old lady in a bad condition. Mia fondled the back of her granny's wrinkled hand, and her heart was full of self-blame. She owed too much to her grandmother, and she would never be able to pay it back in her life! As if she had seen through the girl, the old lady comforted her, "I'm staying in here with good food, drinks, and servants for me. I'm happy!" Mia smiled at her. She turned around and peeled an orange and handed it to her granny. Seeing that the old lady was satisfied, she secretly made up her mind that she would definitely make her granny live a good life in the future. Because of the absence of the nurse, Mia couldn't rest assured. She accompanied the old lady in the hospital for a day, and didn't leave until the old lady fell asleep at night. When she walked out of the hospital, it was already in dusk. Mia took a bus back to school. Tomorrow was Monday, the school would have a summer vacation after a week's classes. In the second half of the year, she would become a senior student. It was already past nine o'clock when she got back to University B. Mia walked to the dormitory and saw a tall figure under a Ferrari tree. He was holding a basketball in his hand. It must be Brain Gu. "Finally, you're back!" Brain came out of the shadow of the tree. He was wearing No.9 Jersey and his arm with wrist guard was thin but powerful... At first glance, he looked like the pretty boy from the comics. "You didn't go back to your dormitory at night, but stood under the girls' building, what are you peeping at?" Mia couldn't help joking him. "What are you talking about?" Brian flicked his finger on Mia's forehead. Mia rubbed her forehead and smiled. After all, they were the best friends. "So you went to the hospital to see your grandmother again?" They two walked side by side on the path. Brian turned his head and asked. In the past, he was neighbor to Mia and her grandmother. Later, Mia was taken to City B, and his family also had a house-moving, so they were separated. Fortunately,a few years later, he was admitted to the music department of University B and became Mia's schoolmate. Mia nodded and said, "I've been with her for a day!" "Is she feeling better?" "It's still the same. The doctor said that she's old and was recovering slowly in all aspects. I want to take her abroad someday, maybe there will have a new hope!" Mia thought of her own plan. Brian stopped, he couldn't help but ask, "Is the Qiao family willing to pay for this?" Mia shook her head and said, "I don't think so!" Now it's Qiao's family who is paying for grandma's medical expenses. The nurse is paid with her own money. Jessie Fu has been more and more mean to her in recent years. It's impossible to ask her to pay for grandma's overseas treatment. "I'm going to find a backer!" Mia said thoughtfully. Brian frowned and looked her up and down several times. "You don't want to rely on Alfred, do you?" Under the street lamp, Mia smiled lightly without affirmation or denial.
