“Why do I even need to bother thinking about him? I mean, he was just no one for me, isn’t it?”
Chelsea, irritated and raging, repeatedly walked bath and forth inside her room. Her mind was preoccupied by her rages to the Lord Matthew he has just talked earlier.
“I could not get him,” she talked to herself. “He was so damn mad to me to the point that he doesn’t even want to talk. Yes, he gave me that favor but he did just nothing but f*****g shoo me away. And then what, he is indirectly telling me that I am the bad person because I would leave him and would talk to Prince Nigel instead?”
Exasperated from her raged talk to her own self, she sat down at the edge of her royal bed.
“Was he jealous?” she asked. “I mean, he said he was burning for me—or let’s say to Princess Demeter. Maybe he was burning to Princess Demeter, yes that is the case. He even kissed and …” she stopped and her face suddenly paled. Quickly, she hugged her own body. “f**k, he touched every parts of my body. H-He took advantage of me—or maybe he took advantage of Princess Demeter’s body?”
Confused and all troubled, she rattlingly shook her head.
“A-And then he just did that only to lure me. B-Because he just want to feel the taste of the Princess’ body?” She bit her lip, and then, troubled, she crawled up on her bed. She placed her face flatly on the newly washed, soft pillow and from that position, she screamed all her chaotic thoughts.
“I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE!” she screamed, yet because she was covered with a soft pillow, her scream only turned a muffled noise.
Seconds after, she had pulled her face once again away from the pillow. Brushing the sweat and tears all mixed up on her face, she said, “why do I even had this urge to think about him? It was just only few days since I met him, isn’t it?”
Now when a bright idea came on her mind, she jolted up and stood away from her bed. “Maybe this was nothing but the reaction of Princess Demeter’s body. This has happened to me when I kept on crying from the death of the King and the Crowned Prince even though I haven’t met or knew them, isn’t it? So, this means that Princess Demeter has a deep affection to that moron lord. And then, even though her soul is not here anymore, her body still remembers the feelings, isn’t it? Yes, I think it is. That’s probably the case.”
Then, deepening her thoughts about that conclusion, she aggressively nodded her head. In fact, she was forcing her repeated nodding as if she was now turning a crazy Princess.
Suddenly, a knock came erupting from her royal room’s door.
“Pleasant evening, your Highness. Your supper is ready and waiting on the banquet. I am here to tell that the Queen is asking for your presence on the dinner table.” Venida entered Demeter’s room and with a bow, she told about the Queen’s request.
“Oh hi, evening Venida. Tell the Quee—I mean Mama I don’t want to eat dinner. I have something on my mind that I wish to clear first,” Chelsea said with her tired voice.
“I believe that would not be possible, your Highness. Your Mama is specially requesting that all her daughters should attend the dinner because she has something very important that she wants to talk with you.”
Sighing all her troubles, she unergetically walked and went outside of the room.
“Fine, Venida. I’m going.”
“Princess, I must tell you that on the servant’s the big gossip was that tonight, the Queen is going to announce the new heir of the throne,” suddenly, Venida said.
“And then, what’s big with that news? That is natural Venida. Knowing that the King and even the supposed to be heir of the kingdom is dead, it is natural that the Queen would pick someone who would own the family’s heirloom which is the crown and the throne. I suspect, the first Princess Andromeda would be our next queen,” said Chelsea.
“But the crowd’s talk was not her, your Highness. It was you,” Venida claimed.
Hearing that, Chelsea stopped and looked at Venida. “Why would it be me?”
“Why not you? Everyone dearly loves you and your personality. You are charming, and wit, and graceful, and each decision’s made was fairly judged and well-thought about. You have the possession of our ideal Queen.”
From that, Chelsea awkwardly sighed. “That’s hardly the case, Venida. You don’t know me well.”
“Everyone knows you well, your Highness.”
Soon enough, Venida and Chelsea has finally reached the royal banquet. On the table, there the Queen and the two Princesses are already sitting, elegantly slicing the scrumptious pork on their plates.
“Here goes my Demeter,” said the Queen. “Come, sit and join us with our dinner.”
Chelsea smiled and nervously sat on the available seat at the long dining table. As she comforted herself, Venida and Vennett quickly moved and served her food.
“Very well, since because you are all here, I must not make the agony any much longer,” the Queen announced. She sat fairly on her seat and then she composedly looked at her daughters. “This is the first time we became complete in the table, since the death of your Papa and brother. I must say, this shall be an important moment that must not be wasted.”
“Is it about the heir of the throne, Mama?” Cassiopeia excitingly asked. Yet, because of that, she received an elbow from Princess Andromeda. Cassiopeia looked furiously at her older sister because her elbowing was painful.
“Do not cause fight in the dinner table, my daughters. But indeed, this announcement was about the Kingdom’s future Queen.”
Now that the Queen finally slipped off the nature of her announcement, the whole room was filled with defeaning silence. The Princesses, the guards, and even the servants were all silent—no one could dare make any noise in front of a very important announcement.
“With all the considerations I made, deciding who the future Queen would be, is indeed the hardest decision I have to make. Knowing that all of you, my dearest daughters, have their distinct capabilities and strengths, it is definitely hard to choose who among you. If only I could say that the three of you would be the future Queen, I should have done it. Yet, we know we only need one.
Thus, I announce the three of you becoming the biggest candidates for the family’s heirloom. You have biggest chance to be the Nightingale’s future Queen. Only that, after three months then would we know who will be our next Queen. It is not me who will decide, but it was amongst you.
For three months, you will be under the Kingdom’s probation. For three months, you will be tested with your elegance, knowledge, capacity and nobility that is for the Queen’s ideal characteristics. For three months, the three of you have the chance to prove that you are capable of being our next Queen,” the Queen announced.
After that, still, no one has dared talking or making any noise. Even Princess Cassiopeia who is naturally talkative; even the Queen who have announced her plans for the future Queen.
Even until the dinner has finished, no one dared talking.
Not even Chelsea. When all has finished their dinner, Chelsea immediately climbed upstairs, went on her Royal room, and sat silently at the edge of her bed.
She knew she had no interest in the Nightingale family’s heirloom. She was never interested into being the Crowned Princess, nor being the future Queen. However, it was her body who wanted the title; it was the real Princess Demeter who wanted the title—Chelsea could feel how the body remembers its real, old owner's desire.
With all the troubling thoughts that are lingering on her mind, she laid flatly on her bed until the urge for sleep had visited her.
She thought that at least, in the dreamworld, her thoughts would be eased for a bit.
Little did she know, someone was waiting for her inside the dreamworld—someone who could make the things even more complicated.
