The days blurred together as the week of Lara’s 18th birthday arrived. Between preparations, decorating, and shopping, Lara and I barely had time to sleep. In most packs, the omegas set up and decorate all occasions, but in ours, it was customary for the host and family to do it. Lara wasn’t unreasonable, but she had a vision, and come hell or high water, it was happening. “I don't want to wear a white dress!” I heard Lara arguing with her mother as I entered their wing of the house.
