Yuri's POV As soon as I got out of bed, the delicious smell of Mom's cooking filled my nose. Curious, I slipped into my slippers and headed to the kitchen. My eyes widened when I saw the table. Eggs Benedict, pancakes with maple syrup, clam chowder, and barbecue ribs were neatly arranged. Everything looked and smelled amazing. "Good morning, sweetie. How did you sleep?" Mom asked while placing plates and utensils on the table. "Pretty good, Mom!" I replied cheerfully. She smiled. "What about your sister?" I laughed. "Suri's still asleep. She's probably dreaming about her prince charming again. I heard her whispering names in her sleep." I was only joking, but Mom surprisingly took it seriously. "Well, I wouldn't mind if she found her prince charming," Mom said with a shrug. "You girls are turning eighteen soon. It's normal to experience being in love." I groaned dramatically. "Mom! How can you be so cool about that?" She chuckled. "Love isn't a bad thing, Yuri. As long as you know your priorities and your limits." I helped her by placing glasses on the table. Then Mom suddenly looked at me with a teasing smile. "What about you? Have you found your prince charming yet?" I almost dropped a glass. "Mom..." I sighed. "I have plans for my future, but having a boyfriend isn't one of them." "Hmm." She nodded. "Good answer." Then she winked. I stared at her. Seriously... my mom is unbelievable. – Oakwood University "I'll see you after class, sis!" Suri said, waving before walking in the opposite direction. It was our first day at Oakwood University. Honestly, I had no idea what was waiting for us here. As I looked around, I felt like I had entered another world. The students here were ridiculously attractive. Seriously, did this school only accept good-looking people? Lost in my thoughts, I accidentally bumped into someone. "Oof!" "Hey, what's wrong with you? Are you blind?" The arrogant voice immediately caught my attention. I looked up. And froze. Oh my gosh. Is he real? For a second, I wondered if I was dreaming. The guy standing in front of me was unbelievably handsome. Then he frowned. "Hey, newbie," he said mockingly. "No idiots allowed here." He looked at me with obvious disgust before smirking. Excuse me? This jerk just called me an i***t. "What did you just call me?" I asked, annoyed. I forced a smile onto my face, trying my best to stay polite. Meanwhile, my brain was imagining punching him right in his perfect face. Ugh. Why does someone that handsome have to be so annoying? He smiled confidently. And somehow that made him even more irritating. "It's not my fault," I argued. "It was an accident." "Whatever." He shrugged and looked me up and down. "Just some advice. If you want to survive here at OU, learn to respect the school's highnesses." I raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? And who exactly are these school's highnesses?" His eyes locked onto mine. I smirked back. I will not to let this jerk embarrass me again. "Figure it out yourself," he replied before walking away. After a few steps, he suddenly stopped. Then he turned back to me. "By the way, you're pretty stiff and fearless." He grinned. "I like that." Then he laughed and walked away like nothing had happened. I stared at his back. Tsk. Whatever. – Two days later... University life wasn't easy. And honestly? I couldn't ignore the discrimination happening around campus. "Make way! The Kings and Queens of OU are coming!" A tall guy shouted from down the hallway. Almost instantly, students rushed to the sides of the corridor. Some even lowered their heads. I blinked. What is going on? Kings and Queens? What kind of nonsense is that? Curious, I watched everyone panic. I turned to the girl beside me, who was wearing thick glasses. "Who are they?" She looked shocked. "Wait... you don't know?" I shook my head. "They're the School Highnesses," she explained. "You should know who they are before enrolling here. Otherwise, you'll get yourself into trouble." I almost laughed. "That's ridiculous." "Shhh!" she whispered urgently. "Keep your voice down. They're coming." She lightly tugged my arm and motioned for me to lower my head. Even though I didn't understand why, I followed her. A group of students walked past us. The moment they were gone, I straightened up. "The Queens are bullies," the girl quietly said. "If they decide to target you, there's no escaping them. Be careful." That sounded more like advice than a warning. "Thanks," I said. "I'll remember that. By the way, I'm Yuri." I offered my hand. She smiled and shook it. "I'm Carol. Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too." She seemed kind, and I instantly liked her. "I have to go," Carol said. "My first class is about to start." She waved before walking away. "See you around, Carol." She nodded and continued toward the Business Administration Building. As I watched her leave, I remembered the arrogant but ridiculously handsome guy I bumped into two days ago. His words echoed in my head. Learn to respect the school's highnesses. Wait. He was one of them! One of the School Highnesses. Oh, crap. Then again... Why should I be scared? We're all students here. We all pay tuition. Who gave them the right to rule this school? Exactly. I lifted my chin. You're Yuri Last. You're strong. You're brave. And you're definitely not going to be intimidated by some silly titles. "School Highnesses." Tsk. Pathetic. I continued walking to class like nothing had happened. I refused to let fear control me. If I wanted to finish my education and achieve my goals, I needed to stay strong. This was only the beginning. I knew there would be many challenges waiting for me at this school. But as long as I focused on my studies, I could get through anything. Right now, the most important thing was keeping my scholarship. It meant everything to my family. And I wasn't going to lose it.
