FIVE Much as I didn’t think I had any appetite; I’ve devoured the toast and tea. It must be my nerves. It shouldn’t be long until Mum and Dad arrive, and I’m worried about what I’ll be telling them and what they might think of me. Pondering my predicament, I’m certain they’re going to be very disappointed and feel I’ve let them down. I’ve always been studious and performed well in my exams. When my ‘Higher’ results came out and I was awarded five ‘A’s’, they were delighted about it and boasted to all their friends and neighbours.
