Don’s been married for eight months.
It was startling once the thought hit him out of the blue, eight months was a big deal, eight months was a long time, there are actual couples on earth who wouldn’t last eight months, but he hadn’t even noticed it fly by. But then all he had to do was take a second look at Casey, usually either curled on some corner of his house, or causing up ruckus and mayhem in another and suddenly- especially when he compares it to the bride that greeted at the alter eight months ago- it does make sense.
Not the movement of time, but rather the development of the person and eight months might be a long time, long enough time for him to gain a child bride, traumatize her, befriend her, use her and the long list that follows, but it isn’t just Casey
