Chapter 10-When the Rain Cleared

255 Words
Chapter Ten – When the Rain Cleared Three months later, Claire stood on the platform of the same Florence station where they had said goodbye. The air was crisp with spring, and the city was alive with the scent of blooming wisteria. She clutched the final pages of her latest travel piece, knowing that after today, her words would have a new chapter—one not written alone. The crowd shifted as a familiar figure emerged from the arriving train. Ethan, taller than she remembered, his sketchbook tucked under his arm, eyes scanning until they found hers. The smile that broke across his face was the one she had been waiting for since the day they parted. They didn’t rush. They walked toward each other as though each step was an answer to the miles they’d crossed. When they finally met, he dropped his bag and pulled her close, the station noise fading into silence. “I’m done,” he said into her hair. “The project, the traveling—everything that kept me away. I’m here now.” She pulled back just enough to look at him. “And I’m not going anywhere.” Ethan opened his sketchbook to the last drawing—a simple scene of two people beneath a clearing sky, hands clasped, rain retreating in the distance. “This,” he whispered, “is where our story really begins.” And as the clouds parted above Florence, Claire realized the title they had been living all along: When the Rain Cleared.
