Lyra’s Pov
Sera Blackridge has been kept alive in darkness for nine years, and the people who did this are about to learn what the Beast does to those who hurt his family.
Theron broke the chains with his bare hands. Metal snapped under his grip like it was nothing. Sera collapsed forward into his arms, and he caught her, holding her tight against his chest. Both of them were sobbing. I stayed back near the door, giving them the moment. My heart ached watching them. Theron's shoulders shook as he held his sister. I had never seen him like this.
Sera’s voice came out weak but full of wonder. "I knew you would find me. I never stopped believing."
She looked so fragile. Her body was thin from years of barely eating. Scars covered her arms, her body trembling from years of captivity. But she was alive. Theron held her like she might disappear if he let go. His hands moved gently over her hair, brushing it back from her face. I could feel his emotions through the bond — relief crashing into guilt and pain.
Sera noticed me then. Her eyes widened a little. "Who...?”
Theron’s voice was thick with tears. "My mate. Lyra. She is the one who found you. Oracle gift."
Sera stared at me in shock . "Oracle? Do they still exist?"
I stepped closer, keeping my movements gentle so I would not scare her. "We need to get you out of here. Can you walk?"
She tried. Her legs shook badly and gave out after two steps. Theron lifted her carefully, cradling her like she weighed nothing. "I have got you. You are safe now."
Sera’s tears came faster. She buried her face in his shoulder. "I thought... I thought you forgot about me."
Theron’s anguish hit me through the bond like a knife. "Never. I searched everywhere. I thought you were dead."
We started moving toward the exit. Sera panicked suddenly, gripping his shirt. "They will come. The ones who kept me. They will kill you."
Theron’s voice turned cold with fury. "Let them try."
We barely made it out of the mine before the ambush hit. Guards had been alerted to the breach. Twenty armed wolves waited for us outside, weapons ready. The leader stepped forward, tall and scared, looking dangerous. "Alpha Blackridge. Did not expect you personally."
Theron recognized him instantly. His body went rigid "Cyrus. I should have killed you in the coup."
The revelation hit hard. Cyrus had been part of the conspiracy that killed Theron’s parents. He escaped the slaughter and had been hiding for nine years. He kept Sera alive as insurance, leverage in case Theron ever came for him.
Cyrus smiled coldly. "She was my guarantee. You could not hunt me if you thought she might be alive somewhere."
Theron’s rage was pure and focused. He passed Sera to Damon. "Get her to safety. Now."
Damon retreated with Sera. I stayed with Theron. He looked at the enemies in front of us. "You took nine years from her. I am taking your lives."
The battle erupted. It was vicious and personal. Theron fought like a demon, no mercy, no hesitation. This was different from Magnus. This was his sister. His family. I defended myself when needed, but I let Theron lead. This was his justice. His closure.
Across the chaos, Theron and Cyrus met in brutal combat. Years of rage unleashed. Theron overpowered him completely. Cyrus begged at the end. "Please. I kept her alive. That counts for something."
Theron’s voice was ice. "You tortured my sister for nine years. That counts for everything."
He killed Cyrus. I watched it happen. This was the Beast, untempered and unleashed. But I was not afraid. I saw the pain driving him, the love for his sister. When it was over, Theron stood over the body, covered in blood. The other enemies were dead or had fled.
He turned to me, breathing hard. "I am sorry you had to see that."
I stepped closer. "Do not apologize for protecting your family."
Theron looked down at his hands. "That was not protection. That was vengeance."
"It was both," I said. "And it was deserved."
We got Sera to the pack hospital. The doctors worked fast. She was severely malnourished, dehydrated, with infected wounds. Nine years of captivity had taken a brutal toll. Theron refused to leave her side. I brought him food and made him eat something. Sera woke up periodically, reaching for his hand. "Do not leave me alone."
Theron held her fingers gently. "Never again. I promise."
I watched them, understanding the depth of their family bond. Healing would take months, both physical and psychological. But she was alive. Home. Safe. Small victories in the middle of pain.
Three days later, Sera was stable enough to talk. She told her story slowly, her voice still weak. She survived the coup attack but was taken by Cyrus’s group. They kept her prisoner to control Theron if needed. But she had heard things over the nine years. Conversations between captors and visitors. Conspiracies.
Sera looked at Theron. "Magnus visited me. Three years ago. Asked questions about you. About weaknesses. About what you would sacrifice for."
The conspiracy ran deeper than we knew. Sera continued. "They talked about Oracles. Searching for the last bloodline. Mentioned a woman named Mira in Crescent Hollow."
My shock was immediate. "My mother."
Sera nodded. "They killed her. I heard them plan it."
All the threads connected. Magnus, the coup, my mother, Sera’s captivity. Everything had been planned and orchestrated.
Theron’s voice was low. "It is over now. They are all dead."
Sera looked at him sadly. "Are they? Magnus and Cyrus are dead. But they mentioned others. A network."
The threat was not finished.
We had rescued Theron’s sister and avenged nine years of suffering, but as Sera listed names of other conspirators — wolves still alive, still plotting — I realized Act One was ending just as Act Two’s real war was beginning.
