I didn’t make it to the lecture hall early. I was trying to sneak in when Mr. Patrick turned around and our eyes met. I could only freeze like a thief who has been caught red-handed.
“And who are you?” he asked, folding his arms and focusing on me.
I couldn’t move an inch as I stuttered. “Good…good morning, sir.”
“That isn’t the answer to my question. What’s so good about the morning?”
Everyone cracked up. I wondered what was funny to make them all laugh.
“I’m Sandra Gates. I’m one of your students, sir,” I answered.
“I’ve never seen you before. This is the third time I’ve lectured this class.”
“That’s because
“I usually sit at that corner over there.” I pointed at the corner of the hall.
“She’s Jack girl.” Someone screamed out loud. The class began to laugh.
“I see.” Mr. Patrick frowned. “That’s why you’re coming to my class late, huh. A girlfriend to that notorious boy. This is the second week all of you new students have spent on this campus and it’s a pity to see some of you already making bad choices.”
I wished the floor would divide so I could hide. “I’m not his girlfriend.” I cried out in my defense. “I’m sorry I came late. Actually, I was just coming from the Dean’s office. You can confirm if you don’t believe me, sir.”
Mr. Patrick eyed me for a second as though he wasn’t yet contented with the reason I gave. “Get a seat,” He sneered. “You’ve taken too much of my time already.”
As I turned around to walk toward one of the vacant seats at the back, strong hands pull me back with a loud growl. “Not so fast!” the loud growl almost plunged my eardrums out of my ears.
Within seconds I was on the floor; flat on my ass. I stared in horror at what had just happened to me. The whole thing was insane.
When I looked up, two monstrous eyes filled stared back at me with fangs ready to dig into my skin. Jack was half man, half wolf. I didn’t need to ask to know why he had attacked me. He must have known by now that I had already reported him to his uncle.

No one did anything to stop Jack as he lunged at me. They all watched in horror and could only gasp in shock and murmur.
“You aren’t laying your hands on her, are you?” Mr. Patrick called out. He appeared behind Jack. I let out a sigh of relief as Jack’s attention turn towards him.
“Mind your business Mr. Patrick,” Jack snarled. “She’s mine and we’ve got somewhere to be to teach her a lesson.”
“Are you crazy?” Mr. Patrick snapped. “You walk into my class partially shifted to attack a girl. How many rules do you think you have broken here?”
“I don’t remember any of those rules being your rules,” Jack scoffed, waving Mr. Patrick off.
Jack had successfully pissed Mr. Patrick off and both their faces were as red as the red pepper sauce my mother loves.
“I think it’s high time I involve your uncle,” Mr. Patrick said. “You are a menace to everyone, Jack Baker! A great menace!”
I couldn’t agree less because it seemed everyone was getting tired of Jack and his intimidation. He is indeed a great Menace. A week in this school and he already has me gasping for air. Why on earth did my mother had to find a man from Colorado to love?
I sighed. If only Mr. Patrick knew that Jack had come here to attack me because I had involved his uncle, he would quickly dismiss the idea.
“I’m not known to bluff.” Jack smirked, his huge frame swallowing up Mr. Patrick’s smaller frame. “Perhaps you want your daughter’s time on campus to be hell. That’s an easy task.”
No more words were spoken as Mr. Patrick seemed to understand perfectly what Jack meant by his threatening words. It didn’t sound good to me, so I assume it didn’t sound pretty to him as well.
Jack grabbed me by my sweater like I weighed no more than a pound of bread. Soon he pushed us out of the lecture hall and I was so scared. So scared that I had no idea where he was taking me to. Bile rose in my throat. My body trembled from the dread rolling in my belly. What was he planning to do to me?
Soon, his warm breath hit my neck as he leaned and whispered in my ear. “Snitch! No one dares report me. I would have allowed Herald snap that little neck of yours.”
“You’re hurting me, Jack. Let go.”
His grip tightened, causing my shirt to rumple. “Shut that mouth of yours before I snap you to pieces! You reported me, so you should be good with it.”
I knew well not to struggle or fight Jack Baker unless I wanted to end up in a hospital bed with broken bones.
