Chapter 6

I knock the door and no one opens. I ring the bell and still no one answers, I turn the knob and the door opens. Guess they forgot to lock the door. I enter the living room and the smell of blood hits my nose. I see that the chairs are turned upside down, a broken vase, shattered glasses and a pool of blood. No, it better not be what I'm thinking. Who's blood could it be, my mind tells me it's dad. I dial my mom's number and it's unavailable. I call Tyler and he doesn't pick up, I go outside and start pacing. The thought that comes to my mind is to go to the hospital nearby. I drive to the hospital. I get there and rush inside. I go to the reception and ask the attendant “please any patient named David Dexter here” “yes, room 37” she says “thank you” I reply and run upstairs looking for the room. “Room 37, room 37…. found it” I slowly open the door. The first sight that greets me is dad lying unconscious with different machines connected to his body. “Mom” I say and engulf her in a warm hug, she doesn't seem to respond but I guess it's cause of the situation. She looks like she's been crying all day because her eyes are red. “What happened” I ask her, she hesitates before answering. “I was having my bath when I heard noises from downstairs. I went out and I started hearing glasses shattering and crumbling. As I was dressing up hurriedly, I heard a gunshot. I rushed down to see your father in a pool of blood and the whole house in shambles. I sent you the text before bringing him here” she said. “He'll be fine” was all I could say. The door opens and Tyler walk in. “Hey Ty” I say and hug him, “what did the doctor say” mom asks him “that they'll perform a surgery to remove the bullet right away” “oh no” mom shrieks and I go to hold her. Soon the doctor and 2 nurses come to move him to the theatre. “I'll stay with you mom” I say, “no, you have school tomorrow” “school can wait” “no, go home and clean up everywhere, you need to go to school” “okay but if you need me, don't hesitate to call” I tell her. The Mustangs must have done this and they won't get away so easily. I hug her goodbye and head to the gang house. I tell boss everything and he said he knew it was coming and I'm not safe. He told me not to worry that the Mustang hide out is under our surveillance. Charlie offered to come home with me to help clean up the house and incase of any surprises. We get home and he offers to make dinner. I arrange the living room, sweep and mop it. I go upstairs to shower. I decide not to go school tomorrow but I won't go to the hospital early so mom won't know I went against her wish. Charlie calls me down for dinner and I'm surprised he could make such delicious lentil soup with rice. Afterwards I go to my room to relax but I soon start feeling very dizzy. The door opens and someone walks in before I black out.
