(Olivia’s POV)
The estate was a world away from the chaos of the city—a sprawling countryside property shrouded in mist and silence. The kind of place where secrets could bury themselves deep in the soil and Isabella took me there to bury my secrets or rather hide me as a secret from Ferro. She helped me.
Isabella had appeared unexpectedly at the rundown motel where I was hiding, her usual calm demeanor replaced with urgency. “You’re not safe here,” she’d said, her tone leaving no room for argument as usual. I didn’t know why I followed her but then I trusted her even though I didn’t want to.
Now, as I stood in the grand foyer of her estate, surrounded by polished marble and heavy drapes, I wasn’t sure I was any safer.
“You didn’t have to bring me here,” I said, my voice cautious.
