The McKenna and Davis families gathered at the hospital to wait for the newest family members to make their grand entrance. Ellie, last to arrive, burst into the waiting room.
“Boys, girls, one of each?” Ellie demanded.
“They’re not here yet.” Cari patted the chair next to her. “Ellie, have a seat. This might take a while.”
She dropped into a chair between her mother and sister. She set her water bottle on the side table and pulled a textbook from an overstuffed shoulder bag.
