Abby and Devin easily settled into their workday routine. After putting in a couple of hours in the morning, they would have lunch and then go outdoors for a walk. It didn’t take long to discover that Shane had kept meticulous job notes, receipts and records. It was organized, but not her system. She pulled the office and files apart and, over the course of the first week, created a filing system for quotes, ongoing jobs, supplies, payroll and truck maintenance. Meanwhile, she hadn’t seen Shane since her first day. She wanted to bring him up to speed on her progress. She was confident he would be pleased with the end result.
She glanced at the calendar. It had been several weeks since she started working and it felt good to be busy again. She tiptoed up the stairs to check on Devin. S
