Chapter 5

Stephen stood there. Flowers in hand. He looked nervous. As if he had been practicing what he was going to say. “What are you doing here?” Sade said with her eyes squinted at Stephen. “Matt told me you and Luna lived together, I wanted to talk to her and give her these,” Stephen said. Sade stepped out of the doorway to the apartment and closed the door behind her. She rolled her eyes and pushed Stephen back two steps. “Look I think you’ve done enough. She doesn’t want to speak to you. Plus, she has a hot date coming and I don’t want you here when he gets here. Go back to the girl you were kissing the other night,” Sade said with the angriest look on her face. Stephen folded his lips and blew out a long breath. “Can you at least give her these,” he said with his hand out reaching Sade the flowers.  Sade took the flowers and asked him to leave. She turned around and headed into the apartment. Luna was coming out of her room when Sade walked in holding the flowers. “Awh, who are those from?” Luna said. Sade lowered the flowers to her side and threw them on the kitchen counter. “Matt just brought them to me. Uhh, he came and tried to apologize for what happened the last time he came over, but I sent him on his way,” Sade lied. Luna was in such an upbeat happy mood. Sade didn’t want her to back petal to dealing with Stephen’s mess. “Well, it’s still a nice gesture Sae, you can tell he’s trying,” Luna said as she put on the shoe she was looking for. Sade suggested they take a shot to loosen Luna up. That was Sade’s go-to. She called it her liquid courage. “Tequila time, I think we both need it,” Sade said. They raised their shot glasses and clicked them together. “This is to your date, may you get some because I sure won’t be,” Sade said just before she downed her shot. “Absolutely not, especially not on the first date,” Luna said with one eyebrow raised. The tequila burned their throats and they both made a face. A few moments later there was another knock. Luna strutted to the door in her heels. She opened the door and there Luke was standing with flowers. Sade's mouth almost dropped because it was the same bouquet that Stephen brought in. “Wow, you look amazing,” Luke said reaching flowers out to Luna. She blushed and took the flowers, “come in, let me put them in some water," Luna said. Sade came up beside Luna and took the flowers. “Hey Luke, don’t worry about it. I'll put them in a vase with water. You guys have fun.” Luna smiled and c****d her head to the side. She grabbed her clutch and headed out with Luke. To Luna, she was in heaven. Men that she knows normally rather Netflix and chill, but this was a respectable date. Luke was earning extra points for sure. They got the car, and like a gentleman, Luke opened Luna’s door. Luke had a rock-hard body, his muscles protruded out of his sleeves on his shirt. Luna could tell he worked out. Luna kept thinking, “this man is trying to impress me,” when she slid into his sleek black Range Rover. Luke walked around the car and slid into his seat. Luna’s eyes closed and she smelled in softly. Luke had on a cologne that made her insides tingle. A fragrance that was manly yet refreshing. Luke buckled his seat belt and smiled over at Luna. His teeth made his smile infectious. Luna turned towards the window and reminded herself to not look too open and easy. “You think your cute huh?” Luna said. “I never said that, but you must think so with you saying that,” Luke said doing a half-grin. Luke turned up his music and zoomed off. Luna’s hair flowed in the wind. His car was high-tech everything and clean. Stephen always had a mess everywhere he went. Luna couldn’t help to compare the littlest things to Stephen. Luna closed her eyes and then opened them. “Stop dwelling on Stephen, enjoy this fine man tonight,” Luna thought. The restaurant was uptown, and by this time the lights were shining. Crowds were walking to and from clubs and bars. The city was beautiful. Luke turned the music down as he turned into the parking garage to the restaurant. They had a small talk as he looked for a parking spot. “So, you know you’re going to have to take it easy on me,” Luke said leaning in and moving Luna’s hair behind her ear. She smiled and replied, “what do you mean?” Luke took Luna’s hand and looked her in the eyes. “You don’t realize how beautiful you are?” Luna blushed and looked away, “thank you, handsome,” she replied. They got out of the car and headed towards the entrance. Luna’s heels clicked and clacked as they walked. They locked arms and went into the crowd on the street. The restaurant was full of people. When they made their way to the front Luke confirmed their reservation and the hostess seated them. The inside was like the inside of a movie. Round tables and booths with white tablecloths, candles, and fancy light fixtures everywhere. The waiter got their drinks, Luna asked for an apple martini and water, while Luke got whisky and coke on the rocks. They both drank a few sips before they said a word. It was obvious they were both nervous and excited. Luna put her elbows on the table and folded her hands. Her liquid courage, as Sade would call it was setting in. “So, tell me, what are you looking for in a woman?” Luna said looking curious. Luke chuckled and leaned forward, “Loyal, ambitious, funny, just someone I can overall be myself around.” Luna nodded her head, “Okay, not too much.” “How about you, in a man?” Luke said. “Someone who won’t get tired of me….” Luna said kind of looking into space. She instantly regretted that response. She knew it was the past in her talking. Luke smiled and touched her hand, “I could never sweetie.” Luna felt warm inside. Something told her that this was right. She got tired of holding back questioning if this is where she should be. She drank a few more sips and talked to Luke as if they had always been friends. Luke and Luna laughed and completely hit it off. By the time the waiter arrived, their stomachs hurt from laughing and making jokes. They shared family memories, childhood stories, and their dreams. The s****l tension was at an all-time high, you could cut it with a knife. He thought she was gorgeous, and Luke was the first man Luna pictured herself intimate with since Stephen. The check came, Luke paid, and they decided to go. After walking back to the car, they got inside, and Luke looked at her. “I don’t want tonight to be over. My place?” Luke said. “I can understand if you don’t want to, I’m not expecting anything.” Luna paused for a moment and thought. She wanted to be more open and spontaneous, so she agreed. “Okay but I’m sending Sade my location. You could be crazy,” Luna replied laughing. He drove off to his place that wasn’t far away. He had a loft one bedroom. Everything in his place looked so modern. He took the time to make it feel like home. “Welcome, come in and make yourself comfortable.” She slid off her heels at the door and walked in and sat on his couch. Luke walked off and came back with wine and random board games and cards. “Oh, so you were prepared I see,” Luna said smiling. “Nah, these are just my favorite. I figured it’s something we can do to spend time.” They drank their wine and played card games. The wine was topping things off for them both to the perfect level of tipsy. “See, you’re cheating I can’t play with you,” Luna said laughing. Luna began mixing the cards and dropped a few, she leaned to the floor to pick them up and fell onto Luke. The wine made her horny. They made eye contact and began to passionately kiss. He slid his tongue in hers, and then she returned the favor. He squeezed her body and rubbed her all over. His hands were so big and firm. This turned Luna on more. She couldn’t fight the temptation. She felt for him, he was rock hard.
