Serena is happy with another man. She smiled. She laughed. Her eyes twinkled. She looked alive.
The scene earlier kept playing in my mind like a broken CD. The sound of her laughter keeps echoing in my head. Even the brightness of her smile doesn’t want to give me peace. It’s haunting me and I couldn't let it go.
She’s happy. Without me.
I couldn't accept it. I couldn't explain why it bothers me so much. I couldn’t explain why I keep on digging into my memory, thinking if I ever made her smile like that when she was still married to me.
It made me feel bitter. She was capable of smiling like that when she treated me coldly. Did I hurt her too much? Should I have just apologized and sought her forgiveness for a mistake I didn’t know?
