CHAPTER 5

918 Words
Clandestine moment Aurora I woke up next to Nicholas, my heart pounding. I hated myself for being so drawn to him, even after everything he had done. I knew he was a stupid man, but I couldn't help but feel a pull towards him. I hated myself for feeling that way. I got out of bed and went into the kitchen to make breakfast. I tried to focus on the task at hand, but my mind kept wandering back to Nicholas. I knew I had to find a way to resist him, but it was getting harder and harder to do so. He was like a magnet, drawing me in no matter how hard I tried. "Good morning babe." I heard him say as he hugged me from behind, I faked a smile. "Good morning, why are we doing this? This wasn't part of the deal!" "Of course it is, we have to prove to the public that we are for real. They still have doubts. So let's go again" He said, setting the camera. As I was making breakfast again for the second time, I heard Nicholas's footsteps behind me and I tensed up, my body on edge. I could almost smell him even from a mile away, even without looking at him. He was like a shadow, always lurking in the background. "Good morning," he said, his voice soft and seductive. I shivered, not wanting to turn around to face him. I didn't want him to see the effect he had on me. "Good morning," I said, keeping my tone even. "I'm making breakfast. Do you want some?" I felt his hand on my shoulder, and my skin tingles at his touch. "I don't want breakfast," he said, his breath on my neck. "I want you." I shivered again, my heart racing. I had to resist him, I knew that. But I couldn't seem to find the strength. "Eat breakfast first then you can eat me." I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You've just got to be patient." "Why not?" he asked, his hand sliding down my arm. "You know you want to. I can feel it." I closed my eyes, trying to block out his words. But it was no use. I turned around, unable to deny my feelings any longer. I looked into his eyes, and I saw the desire there, burning like an inferno. "Please," I whispered, my voice hoarse with emotion. "Lets not do this on camera." "We can," he said, his voice low and seductive. "You know we can. You just need to give in to your desires." I knew he was right, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I couldn't betray my heart like that. But as he stood there, his eyes locked on mine, I felt my resolve crumbling. Suddenly his phone rang and he picked it up, then he ended the call. "We have a party to attend tonight, wear the finest of your dresses, see you later cupcake" He said pecking me on the cheek leaving me alone in the kitchen and once again I felt like a fool * * * I nervously walked into the party with Nicholas. All eyes were fixated on us, different faces, both the excited and the hateful ones stared at us. I knew there would be a lot of people there, because it was a big party and I wasn't sure how I would feel being around so many people. But I tried to push my fears aside and enjoy myself. As I mingled with the other guests, I saw Hailey out of the corner of my eye. I tried to avoid her, but it was impossible. Hailey seemed to be everywhere, and I couldn't escape her gaze. Finally, I gave up and went to get a drink. As I was standing at the bar, I felt a hand on me, expecting to see Hailey, instead I saw a strange face. She smiled at me politely. "You must be the infamous Aurora Jones…sorry, Mrs Aurora Cage now, I guess." I smiled at her, suddenly perplexed "Yes,I am. And you are?" "I'm Tabitha,a friend to Nicholas." "That's very nice." I responded by returning back to the drink I was sipping. "People don't like you!" Tabitha said glaring at me really hard. "Pardon?" "Do you know what they say about you? They ask themselves why Nicholas chose to settle down with you of all people, leaving his ex who was a supermodel to settle down with a mere writer who has a failed career." I wanted to say something back at her but then I felt my stomach tighten, pain was what followed, excruciating pain. "What is it? Do you have something to say? I would advise you to lay low. Because no one likes you. Everyone loathes you. Nicholas left me after sleeping with me to secure the business deal just to marry you the next day. What? You can't move? Do you feel pain? This is just the beginning." She said leaving me, i just kept coughing and choking. It was like I couldn't breathe. I tried to call out for help but no one seemed to be coming. It was when I fell to the floor people started coming to revive me. Everything just went blank. I closed my eyes and it went dark when I opened it everywhere was blurry. Not blurry enough to see Nicholas staring down at me. Am I in heaven yet?
