Secret And Intention.

Lana wandered through the mansion, her footsteps echoing off the marble floors. She had been living here for months now, but she still felt like a stranger. Damien was always busy, and when he wasn't, he was distant. She knew she was just a means to an end – a contract to be fulfilled. One day, while exploring the mansion, Lana stumbled upon a hidden room filled with old photographs and mementos. As she flipped through the photos, she saw a younger Damien with a radiant woman. They were laughing and happy. Lana's curiosity got the better of her, and she asked Maria about the woman. "Who's the woman in the pictures with Damien?" Lana asked, showing Maria the photo. Maria's eyes clouded over as she hesitated before responding, "That's Elizabeth. She was Damien's fiancée. They were deeply in love, but her passing in a tragic accident changed Damien forever." Lana's curiosity was piqued. She had heard whispers about Damien's past, but nothing concrete. "What happened?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Maria's voice dropped to a gentle tone. "They were supposed to get married, but a heated argument led to Elizabeth taking his car keys and driving away. Fate had other plans. A fatal accident took her life, leaving Damien shattered. He cried like a baby, his world crumbling." Lana's heart went out to Damien. She couldn't imagine the pain he endured. "That explains why he's so guarded," she said, more to herself. Maria nodded. "After Elizabeth's passing, Damien closed himself off. He believes love makes him weak, vulnerable. His focus shifted to Blackwood, ensuring Vivienne wouldn't take over. The heir became his priority, a way to secure his legacy." Lana now understands why Damien always keeps a distance. She couldn't imagine the pain he must have felt. She realized that the heir wasn't just about legacy; it was about preventing Vivienne from taking over the company. Julian walked into the hallway, flashing a charming smile. "Hello, Lana," he said. "You look stunning today." His eyes lingered on her face, and Lana felt a bit uneasy. There was something about Julian that made her feel uncomfortable, despite his attractive, pleasant personality trying to make her comfortable. Lana felt uneasy as Julian looked at her. Something about him didn't feel right. "Thank you, Julian," she said with a polite smile. Julian leaned against the wall, his eyes piercing hers. "So, life with Damien's treating you well, I suggest? He's showering you with royal treatment, no doubt?" His tone was laced and trying to hear something bad about Damien from Lana, putting Lana on guard. Lana's response was measured. "We're fulfilling our contract," she said, her voice even, hiding her growing discomfort and showing that she’s not interested in having conversations with. Julian's chuckle sent shivers down Lana's spine. "Ah, the contract," he said, his voice dripping with dripped voice trying to make Lana feel doubt. "Damien's always been a man of business, calculating and ruthless. He doesn't do emotions; he does deals. Once he gets what he wants from you, he'll discard you like yesterday's trash, without a second thought." “Lana became doubtful” A knot of unease twisted in Lana's stomach as Julian's words struck a chord. Was he revealing a painful truth about Damien? She swiftly pushed the doubt away, her mind racing back to the contract she'd signed. She knew the terms, the expectations, and the risks. As Julian continued to flirt with Lana, Damien appeared, his eyes narrowing. "Julian, what are you doing here?" he asked, his tone cold. Julian smiled. "Just catching up with Lana. She's lovely, isn't she?" Damien's gaze flicked to Lana, and for a moment, she saw something there – a spark of jealousy. But it was quickly replaced by his usual mask of indifference. "I think it's time for you to leave, Julian," Damien said, his voice firm. Julian laughed. "Of course, Damien. I wouldn't want to overstay my welcome." As Julian left, Lana felt a sense of relief. There was something about him that made her skin crawl. Damien turned to her. "Be careful around Julian," he warned. "He's not what he seems." Lana nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Damien. Maybe, just maybe, he cared more than she thought. As the days went by, Lana noticed that Damien was avoiding Julian. She also saw the way Damien looked at her, a mixture of possession and protectiveness. It was as if he was starting to see her in a different light. But Lana couldn't shake off the feeling that Julian's words had planted a seed of doubt in her mind. Was Damien truly starting to care for her, or was it just a product of her imagination?
