When I heard Jessica's plea to Darius, I turned my gaze to her, staring at her intensely as I wondered why she was going to be pleading for something like that at a critical moment such as that. We had known each other for a long time, and I knew very well when something was off.
"Oh, my dear Jessica, I wish that I could grant you this wish because I know how much you must have missed your chosen mate. But come to think of it, Jessica, you remember very well that you have always been my fated mate, yet you left me for a chosen mate who you believe is your fated mate.
