CHAPTER TEN THE Elysian Fields asylum was surrounded by a ten foot high black, iron fence with a massive but ornate gate. The fence posts, as far as the eye could see in both directions, were topped with sharp, pointed finials and interspersed with wire. It was obviously electrified. Edric wondered if the electrical component was to keep busybodies out or patients in. Probably both. The drive up to Elysian Fields from Hell was beautiful. A thick growth of massive trees hugged the narrow, winding road closely on both sides. The trees hung over the road in spots, dropping leaves and debris like bread crumbs, leading them to their destination.
