CHAPTER 19
The farm about twenty kilometres south of Auckland that had recently been purchased by Golden Sunrise Enterprises was squeezed in between huge commercial properties that grew food for the city. It was 125 hectares in size and had been in the same family since the eighteenth century and for all her live had been lived in by Mary Ashworth the granddaughter of the original owner.
Mary had never married and despite numerous offers by her larger neighbours she had refused to sell. However at the grand old age of ninety-two she had died. In her will, she left the farm to several national charities with the only proviso that when put on the market the farm would be sold to a deserving family and not just be absorbed by her neighbours.
