“I’m so sorry I’m late, Auden. You won’t believe it, but I actually slept late.”
Nat rushed into my office, flinging a hand out to grab the door frame upon entry to slow her trajectory, before skidding to a halt.
I shut the book I had been reading, blinking in shock at Nat’s admission. “You slept late? The nightmares didn’t wake you up like they normally do?”
Nat beamed at me as she settled herself on the couch opposite me. “I didn’t have any last night! First time ever!” She wiggled in excitement as she found a comfortable position. This was the happiest I’d ever seen her.
