BELLA'S POV
I woke up feeling like my mind was weighed down by stones, heavy and sluggish.
I sat up, the crumpled letter still clenched in my fist, a painful reminder of last night. I had spent the entire night pacing about, trying to think of a way out, scared out of my mind, and after all that worrying, exhaustion finally took over.
I placed the letter on the bedside table, right beside the lifeless bird that had delivered it.
Even after staring at it for so long, it still sent chills down my spine.
I had hoped things were finally changing, but instead, I was thrown right back into the nightmare I thought I’d escaped—maybe even deeper this time.
