BELLA’S POV
I sat across from Ryan. Fiona sat beside me, asking him question after question. He answered without hesitation, but I barely heard a word. My thoughts were elsewhere.
Right now, Amara was lying in my bed, pretending to be me, claiming she wanted time alone. I couldn’t shake the feeling that she might get caught. If she did, we’d be exposed. Worse, she’d be punished for helping us.
"What's the deal with your buddies?" Fiona asked.
Some of the men from earlier had softened, talking more freely. With how relaxed Fiona sounded, you'd think she'd known them for years.
"We travel together. Explore new lands, gather resources, and protect our people. They’re like my brothers," Ryan said.
"They didn’t have anyone to protect them, did they?" Fiona asked.
