Atticus kept his promise and allowed me to skip school. I took advantage of this opportunity and slept in while he drove the twins to their school. As I lay in bed, the warmth of my soft and comfortable sheets enveloped me. Suddenly, I heard my phone buzzing, indicating that I had received a text message. Despite having kept my phone on silent mode, I was pretty sure who the sender was, as they were probably trying to reach me after noticing my absence from school.
The message I received was from Kristen, who said, "Hey, hope you're feeling better. I ran into your brothers earlier, and they mentioned that you weren't feeling well. I just wanted to check in and let you know that I miss you a lot. Can't wait to see you tomorrow. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses. XOXO." I couldn't help but feel a warm sensation in my cheeks and between my thighs as I thought back to the night before. I had enjoyed what had happened and was eager to explore further, but Atticus' words had left a lingering doubt in my mind. Despite this, I couldn't help but feel excited about seeing Kristen again the next day.
I couldn't help but giggle as I sat there tapping away on my phone, trying to come up with a witty and clever comeback text to send to her. Eventually, I decided to put it off and think about it later. Suddenly, I heard the creaking of the front door opening and then the sound of it closing. Atticus had arrived home. A feeling of warmth and excitement spread through me, urging me to be near him. I had a strong desire to be as close to him as humanly possible. It was as if a voice inside my head was calling out to me, telling me to go and be with him.
In a hurry, I hastily put on a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and high-knee wool socks, and then headed down to the dining area for breakfast. The former Alpha and Luna were currently away on a trip and wouldn't be back until the twins' big celebration, which nobody seemed to mind. When I walked in, I was taken aback by the grandeur of the dining room in the pack house, which boasted a long oak table with about sixteen chairs. At the head of the table was Atticus, the pack leader, sitting at the far end closest to the kitchen. As I made my way towards him, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement bubbling inside me for reasons beyond my understanding.
I sat down in an empty chair to the left of him. My heart raced at the memory of our embrace from last night. But what am I thinking? Why do I feel this way? I turned to look at him and saw that he was reading the paper intently. Just then, Maggie, our cook, poked her head out of the kitchen and noticed me. "Bri? You're home from school, dear. Would you like pancakes?" I smiled and replied, "Oh, yes, please! Yours are the best."
Suddenly, a voice in my head whispered, "Tell him about her." I was taken aback. This was strange. I sat there for a moment, trying to make sense of it all. The voice grew louder and more insistent, "Tell him she wants you, but you're scared." I didn't know what to do. If I told him about the voice in my head, he might think I'd lost my mind.
I kept fidgeting in my seat, and it seemed to annoy Atticus. Finally, with a sigh, he asked, "What's wrong?" I tried to look as innocent as possible and replied, "Kristen sent me a suggestive text." There was a moment of silence before I continued, "But it made me feel conflicted because of what we talked about last night." Leaning forward with a slight shift in his weight, he fixed his gaze on me. His blue eyes had a darkened intensity to them, as if he was trying to see right through me. In a hushed and almost cautious tone, he asked, "What is it that you desire or wish to attain?" The sound of his voice made me blush so deeply that it felt like I had a fever. Fortunately, Ms. Maggie entered the room with breakfast, providing a much-needed distraction from the awkward moment. With a quick "Yes, sir" response, I watched as Atticus walked away without even making eye contact. I couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency to meet him in his office and find out what he wanted to discuss with me.
I wolfed down my breakfast, trying not to let the nervousness in my stomach turn into nausea. Suddenly, the voice returned, 'He wants you. He wants you as his Luna.' The words sent a surge of heat and excitement through my body, but also a wave of doubt. Was I losing my mind? Maybe I was just overthinking things and the Alpha simply wanted to discuss what happened last night in more detail. I needed to keep a level head and not blow things out of proportion."
I made my way towards his office, located in the front sunroom. As I approached, he looked up from his work and instructed me to shut the door upon entering. His demeanor had shifted since the previous night when he had been comfortable. Feeling a sense of unease, I followed his instructions and stepped into his spacious office. As I stood there, I couldn't help but feel nervous for no apparent reason.
The large desk in front of him was cluttered with papers and books. Slowly standing up, he walked around the desk, his footsteps echoing through the room. His presence was intimidating as he leaned back on the desk and gazed down at me, studying me closely. I felt small and insignificant in the grandeur of his office. As he spoke, his voice was low and measured. I tried to focus on his words, but my mind was racing. Why was I feeling so nervous? I had been in this office before, and yet, this time felt different. My anxiety only intensified as he continued to stare at me. I wished I could disappear as I stood there, feeling exposed in his presence. The room felt stifling, and I longed to escape.
"Bri?" He asked again. "Did you hear anything I just said?" I finally got a grip and composed myself. "No, sorry Alpha Atticus."
