Chapter 1

"Nooo"

The woman screamed as she received the news of her husband passing away in a road accident with a truck. The police officers tried to calm her down giving her water. Being nine months pregnant , it was much more of a painful blow as they were expecting their first child. Screaming in heartache and hopelessness, the woman's leg gave up as she sat down weeping on the floor. It all seemed pitch-black. The intense pain in her hurt, as if someone has hammered it into a trillion pieces.

"Nothing to live for anymore" She thought in her mind. Just then, a small gentle kick. So small, yet so powerful. powerful enough to drag her back to reality. "The baby" she whispered.

"You gotta live for the baby, It's the love between you and your husband" said the officer in a heavy and choked voice. Nobody was strong enough to witness this scene. Some had eyes full of tears, it was a painful moment for everybody in the room.

Few days later....

The sound of footsteps approaching the room, the woman looked up and the door opened simultaneously. The woman stopped writing, putting her book down. An elderly lady with a glass of milk in her hand approached as she said "here, now take it slowly".

"Thank you"

"The doctor said the expected date is this Sunday So we have to admit you in the Saturday morning".

"Hmm", said the woman as she sighed.

"How Overjoyed he would have been on seeing the baby if he was here"

"he is looking over you and your child" said the lady hiding her tears. The old lady who appears to be in her 60s is the woman's mother now looking over her as her son-in-law passed away under unfortunate circumstances The date of the delivery was very near. there was a mix of emotions, both excitement and sorrow, in the household. excited to welcome the baby And the reason for sorrow is quite obvious. the neighborhood wasn't much of a help as people usually kept it to themselves and didn't wanted to interfere in their business because of fear in getting into some legal troubles. This didn't really affect the woman though, as she as obvious as it sounds, was most of the time, thinking about her dead husband and reminiscing about the past, all the lovely Memories they made together. the couple were childhood sweethearts, as a result They spend a long time of their life together, which is why the sudden blow was extremely painful, so much so that the Heartbreak was absolutely irreparable. But it seems there's a scarcity of good people in heaven, So as to separate the lovely pair of lovebirds. scared her child might get hurt, she couldn't even curse God. Therefore, she resorted to sobbing to let out the overwhelming emotions.

Sunday. 7:45am

"Dear Lord in heaven, please help the mother and the child to make it out safe and healthy, Please Lord", the old lady mumbled, as she strided up and down the hallway, it was a critical and dangerous situation as the woman inside the delivery room tried her hardest to push out the little life inside her. Every time she screamed the old lady's hurt felt like jumping out. Hallways echoing of Woman's scream, as she pushed. Weakness enclosing the body. Pain of a hundred of bones breaking and extreme muscle contractions felt like the most painful thing ever.

"Would have it been less painful if he was here?" Thought the woman before closing her eyes. The sudden cry of the baby brought a smile to everyone's face in the room and old lady's heart skipped a beat.

"Congratulations Madam, it's a lovely baby girl" the doctor said smiling brightly. Everyone in the room left a sigh of relief and happiness.

The mother opened her eyes to take a little peek towards her baby girl. "Melissa" she said As she smiled. Before going back to her previous state of deep sleep. The doctor kept the baby with the mother for first few hours so that the baby can become comfortable in the life outside after spending nine months floating in her mother's womb. It was a beautiful moment.
