Elsa
I tried to distract myself by watching a few episodes of the game show, but eventually, I switched to a comedy film, hoping it would lift my spirits.
Instead, the romantic elements in the film triggered a wave of emotions I couldn’t control.
I ended up crying, the tears flowing as the reality of my situation crashed down on me.
I wanted to stop, but the pain was too overwhelming.
Afterward, I showered, hoping the warm water would soothe me, and then I slipped into one of the pyjamas from the luggage and fell into a restless sleep.
In the middle of the night, I was startled awake by someone in my room. Groggily, I struggled to sit up, my mind still foggy from sleep.
When my eyes finally focused, I saw Alpha Adam standing over me, his presence sending a jolt of fear through my body. Reflexively, I moved back, my heart pounding. This was the moment I had dreaded—he had finally come to me.
I had hoped, foolishly, that he would continue to ignore me, that I would remain nothing more than a distant obligation to him. But I was wrong. He was here, and I didn’t want him to touch me, to claim me.
"Wake up, Elsa," he said, his deep voice commanding my full attention. Suddenly, I was wide awake, my senses on high alert. I didn’t know what to say, so I just stared at him, my mind racing with fear and uncertainty.
He moved closer, his hand reaching out to touch my thigh. The contact made my skin crawl, but I forced myself to stay still.
"Were you seeing someone before this?" he asked, his voice low and direct. I shook my head, too scared and shocked to do anything else. His eyes flashed with surprise, though he quickly masked it.
"Okay," he said, his tone cold and emotionless.
"You are not allowed to date or sleep with anyone here. I will not claim you, and I will not sleep with you. I believe that’s a small price to pay to keep your father and your old pack safe. But know this—if you run away, I will kill them. We might be married, but you are not my Luna, and you never will be. Are we clear?" His words were like ice, freezing any hope I might have had for even the slightest kindness from him.
I looked at him, my heart sinking deeper into despair.
"Am I going to live like this for the rest of my life? Are you going to let me go eventually?" I asked him, my voice trembling with desperation. I needed to know if there was any hope, any chance of escaping this nightmare. But he shook his head, his expression cold and unyielding.
"I’m afraid I’m not going to let you go," he replied, his face a mask of indifference. His words sparked a surge of anger in me, the unfairness of it all overwhelming.
"Then it’s only fair you let me have affairs and flings; have someone in the least," I shot back, my voice filled with defiance. The moment I said it, I saw his eyes darken with fury, a murderous glare that sent a chill down my spine.
"It’s not like I care about you in that sense," he said, his tone dripping with contempt, "but if my wife were sleeping around, it would affect my reputation. Learn celibacy; it will help you."
"Are you celibate?" I snapped, unable to hide the bitterness in my voice. He stood up, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked down at me.
"Don’t cross the line with me, Elsa," he warned, the threat in his voice unmistakable. He was about to leave when I quickly blurted out another question.
"May I go on runs and hunts with my wolf?" I asked, hoping for at least some small freedom in this confined existence. He paused and turned to face me, his eyes calculating.
"Feel free to do so within this territory," he replied, but there was no kindness in his tone.
"Who will show me around?" I asked, clinging to the last shred of hope for some guidance in this new place. His lips curled into an evil smile.
"No one," he said coldly before walking out of the room, leaving me seething with rage.
How dare he come in here and impose rules on me that even he couldn’t follow? This wasn’t a marriage—it was imprisonment. He had used the wedding to placate my father, to give the illusion of a proper union, but in reality, I was nothing more than a captive, held against my will in a gilded cage.
I looked around the room, feeling the weight of his indifference pressing down on me. It was clear he had no intention of treating me well, and I realised I couldn’t let his behavior get to me. I knew I wasn’t wanted, and neither was he.
Resigned to my fate, I lay back in bed, praying that time would pass quickly and that one day, I might be free of this torment—even if it meant waiting for death to take me.
