I retired to my rented quarters, but instead of resting, I began devising a plan to infiltrate the heavily secured palace. Infiltrating the palace and meeting the hidden prince wouldn't be an easy feat, but I was determined to succeed, no matter the cost.
With written strategies and maps spread before me, I pondered on my next move. Entering the palace seemed impossible; I could get captured or worse get killed. Yet, I refused to abandon my mission.
As I weighed my options, a daring idea struck me. I would disguise myself as a maid perhaps even as a wife to the other prince. The thought sent a shiver down my spine, but I steeled myself.
"I must find the hidden prince," I resolved.
I began imagining the potential benefits of this disguise. As a servant, I would have access to the palace's inner workings, potentially gaining valuable information about the prince's whereabouts.
"But what about the risks?" I cautioned myself. "Discovery could mean imprisonment, torture, or execution."
Undeterred, I continued planning. I would need to create a convincing backstory, adopt a servant's demeanor, and familiarize myself with palace etiquette.
With newfound determination, I set out to gather the necessary materials for my disguise.
.
After perfecting my disguise, I attempted to enter the palace but it was unsuccessful. Defeated, I returned to my rented quarters to reassess my plan.
The next day, I visited the inn, where gossip swirled about me. I ignored the whispers and focused on my goal.
Guards arrived, posting a royal announcement. The palace sought new maids. I considered applying, but the risks outweighed the benefits. Working directly for the prince was my priority.
As I sipped my drink at the inn, the waiter approached. "Time to pay," he said.
"I haven't finished," I replied.
The waiter hinted at my hasty departure yesterday. I smiled, surprised. "You must think I'm penniless." I dropped a gold tael on the table. "Keep the change."
The waiter's eyes widened in amusement.
Just then, a familiar voice interrupted. "Look who we have here."
I raised my gaze to meet the flirting prince from yesterday. Our eyes locked, and I smirked, surprised and pleased.
"It seems fate brings us together again," he said, taking a seat.
The waiter, still starstruck,"Will you buy me a drink, too?" the prince asked.
I chuckled, pulling out another tael. "Keep the remaining money as a tip."I told the waiter
The waiter bowed, grateful, and took his leave.
"I think we're fated to meet," the prince said, his eyes sparkling.
I remained silent, intrigued.
The waiter returned with the prince's drink, and our conversation began.
I stared at the waiter, surprised he'd brought me the same wine without my ordering it. "Is this your favorite wine?" I asked the prince.
"No," he replied, his eyes sparkling.
"Why drink it, then?" I pressed.
He smiled mischievously. "Because you're drinking it."
I raised an eyebrow. "You didn't even order it."
He chuckled. "I have my ways."
I took a sip, my gaze locked on his.
The waiter bowed and excused himself, leaving us alone.
The prince's expression turned serious. "Since yesterday, I couldn't stop thinking about you. All my thoughts revolved around you. I came here hoping to see you again. It's as if you've stolen a part of me."
His words would have captivated any woman, but I sensed an ulterior motive.
"You doubt me," he observed, taking a sip.
I smiled, intrigued. "You've already read me."
"Who would imagine a fantasy like yours from a guy who fought a lady?" I said
"What do you want from me?" I asked, cutting through the charm.
"I want you, and only you," he replied, his eyes burning.
"You expect me to believe a playboy?" I scoffed.
He leaned in, his voice low. "I might be a playboy, but I'm also a man with feelings. I've met many women, but none have captivated me like you. Yesterday, you touched a part of me no one else has."
I raised an eyebrow. "So, you like me. What can I do for you?"
He smiled, correcting me. "Don't misquote me. I didn't say I just like you. I said I want you."
His intensity left me puzzled.
"You've unlocked another part of me," he said, smiling. "I want to explore it by keeping you close."
His words sounded genuine, but I remained cautious. "Since I've unlocked a place I shouldn't have, what can I do to undo it?" I asked.
He chuckled. "You've unlocked a place I want to explore. I'll keep you close as my assistant in the palace. When you're ready, I'll make you mine."
I masked my shock, aware that my dream of infiltrating the palace was within reach.
"I need time to think," I said, careful not to seem desperate.
"Take all the time you need," he replied. "But remember, anyone entering the palace must do so by next moon. You have until then."
He stood, finishing his drink. "Will you let me take care of you?"
I nodded, intrigued. "I'll go with you, but treat me well."
He smiled. "I love women, and taking care of them is my hobby. I've deprived myself of that joy."
I accepted his offer, aware of his ulterior motives.
As we prepared to leave, he escorted me to a room in the inn. I bathed alone, declining the ladies' assistance. Emerging in a bath gown, I found him waiting.
"I'll help make you gorgeous," he said, his eyes sparkling.
I nodded, and he handed me a coat, covering my shoulders. The gentle gesture made my heart skip a beat.
"Take your time to dress," he said excusing me
"May I enter?" he asked with a knock
You may
His gaze roamed my body, and I asked, "Do I look okay?"
"You're more than okay," he replied, closing the door.
"Noticing my hair, he asked, "What do you plan to do with it?"
"I'll pack it," I said nonchalantly.
"No, let me," he offered, guiding me to a chair.
He combed my hair, applied lotion, and styled it with surprising skill.
He gently, using the comb to sweep strands of my hair to the side of my face.
His eyes met mine, and I sensed a spark of attraction. He swallowed hard, his gaze lingering.
"You're good to go," he said, arranging the beauty tools.
"I must say, as a prince, you're surprisingly skilled," I remarked.
"Let's go," I said, walking ahead of him.
"One more thing," he called out from behind.
I turned, and he delicately applied lipstick to my bottom lip. Then, he pressed his lips together, signaling for me to do the same. I mimicked the gesture, our eyes locked.
With that subtle, intimate moment, we left the inn, ready to face the palace.
As we approached the palace, the capital unfolded before us like a breathtaking tapestry. Our chariot glided smoothly through the city streets, and upon reaching the palace gates, we were waved through without inspection. We passed through another gate, again without scrutiny, and finally arrived at the last gate, where the chariot was thoroughly searched. Only then were we permitted to enter.
As we emerged from the chariot, I beheld a breathtaking sight. Crystal-clear waters flanked both sides of the winding path, leading to an imposing castle that seemed to touch the sky. Its grandeur left me awestruck.
The prince was assisted down from the chariot by his attendants, while I tried coming down on my own. However, before I could take a step forward, the prince appeared beside me, offering his hand to help me down. His sudden proximity caught me off guard, and I couldn't help but flash a brief, genuine smile.
"Welcome to my home," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
I took his hand, feeling a spark of electricity as his fingers wrapped around mine. He guided me down from the chariot, his grip firm but gentle.
As we stood together, I couldn't help but notice the contrast between his refined demeanor and the rugged charm he'd displayed earlier. The prince's eyes seemed to hold a thousand secrets, and I found myself drawn to the mystery.
As I strolled through the castle's opulent halls alongside the prince, I couldn't help but feel a sense of royalty, as if fame itself had welcomed me with open arms. The intricate tapestries, polished marble, and sparkling chandeliers seemed to whisper stories of ancient grandeur.
After a leisurely tour of the castle's impressive facilities, the prince escorted me to my lavish quarters. The spacious room boasted stunning views of the palace gardens, and the plush furnishings invited relaxation.
Despite the prince's warm hospitality, I reminded myself of my true purpose. His genuine demeanor and charming smiles threatened to disarm me, but I couldn't afford to let pity or sentiment cloud my judgment.
"I must stay focused," I thought, steeling myself. "My mission demands swift execution, and revenge against my family will be its own reward."
Memories of past hurts and betrayals resurfaced, fueling my determination. I had been vulnerable for too long; now, I would become the avenger, seeking justice for the wrongs inflicted upon me.
"My family must pay the price for what they've done," I vowed, my heart hardened.
"The prince's gentle knock drew me out of my thoughts. "Comfortable?" he asked, concern etched in his voice."
I composed myself, donning a mask of serenity. "Yes, thank you. Your hospitality is overwhelming."
He smiled. "You're part of the palace now. Make yourself at home."
His words echoed in my mind as he departed, leaving me to ponder the delicate balance between my mission ,the prince's growing influence over me and how I can take things to my advantage.
