Prologue

The sky is dark and heavy again. It has been like this for a week already. Footsteps and the splashing of water all form a chorus that Nate very much enjoys. He finds it peaceful listening to the rain and the bustling of the crowd. It helps him clear his mind from the stress of school and from the burden of his secret. He's gay. And no one knows about it. Nate knows very well how his family handles homosexuality. Nate's brother came out as gay a few years back. And now? Their parents disowned him. Nate tried looking for his brother because he feels like his brother would understand him. But he couldn't find him anywhere. He wouldn't want to end up like his brother. So he has decided to keep his true identity a secret. He has been seeing a girl recently. They are not yet a couple, but Nate wanted to try falling in love with a girl. With hopes of finally being straight. But Nate knows it ain't going to be easy. The rain continues to fall. Nate stands at one end of the pedestrian crossing, waiting for the walk signal. A small crowd is starting to form behind him as they all wait for the signal to cross. The same thing is happening at the other side of the crossing. Many unfamiliar faces gathered together. Each with their own umbrella, and their own story. *click* The signal to walk flashed green. Everyone including Nate, proceeded to walk forward. Amidst the sea of unfamiliar faces, Nate saw someone who looked like he has met them before. As the guy drew closer, Nate can't help but feel even more curious. *thump* Nate's heart felt like it was going to burst as the guy continued to walk closer. He can't help but get paralyzed on the spot. He doesn't know why. He doesn't even know the guy. Suddenly, fragments of a moment he has forgotten flashed at the back of his mind. And as the guy walked past him, he knew that it was the same guy he saw in his memory. The guy he met yesterday.
