I blinked in disbelief at the sight of Elena on my doorstep, lugging two suitcases along. It seemed she had come back to stay with me forever.
I should feel ecstatic, but I didn’t. A strange agitation filled my heart, upsetting me further. Why was she here now? I didn’t need her pity.
“You? Why are you here?” I glared at her, blocking her way inside. My whole body wanted to revolt, to fight her. Where was she when I needed her the most? Where was she when I was struggling with Ryan? If love were blind, she should have been blind to Everly’s threats and stuck to me. She left as if I didn’t matter to her.
How could I trust her enough if she was always on the run?
