Gavin comes back into the kitchen. “What did I miss?” He asks, and Grant smiles.
“Nothing.” Grant says.
I start laughing and Gavin quirks an eyebrow at us. “So, this is how it’s going to be? You two are keeping secrets from the boring old man?”
“Yes.” Grant says and I burst out laughing.
“You aren’t old.” I say, laughing.
“Oh, so I am just boring and you two are keeping secrets from me?” He asks.
Grant laughs. “You are very boring.”
I laugh harder. “Grant, why are you being so mean?” I ask, trying to be serious. It’s no use though.
Gavin laughs. “Grant is always mean to me. That’s why I am glad he is leaving for the summer.”
“Hey!” Grant gasps.
“You two better start being nicer to each other.” I say, laughing.
