Chapter 2

I tilted my head up to see who it was and since I have the worst luck in the world, Aryan was standing in front of me with his hands in his pocket and a cold expression on his face. "Do you need glasses?" I shook my head at his question. "At least you didn't have coffee this time" He said as he pressed the elevator button. The door opened and I stepped in quickly right after Aryan, hoping this would be my chance to get close to him so that I can learn work from him. There was silence in the lift besides the soft instrumental music that was playing through the speakers. Aryan stood beside me, his hands still in his pocket and his eyes planted onto the lift door. I scanned his facial features and was impressed, man had good looks but I immediately looked away when Aryan said, "Take a picture it will last longer" I mumbled a 'sorry' before the doors opened and it was my floor. "Well go" Aryan was getting impatient with me now. Screw it. "Do you think you could merntor me?" He looked at blankly as I continued, "My father thinks you're great at what you do and the whole reason he asked me to join CE was because he wanted me to learn from you" Aryan paused for a moment and then pressed the lift button preventing the doors from closing, "I don't have time to babysit" and with that he asked me to exit the lift. "What a d**k!" I wanted to scream but I was in an office so I said it in ahushed scream once I reached my cabin. "I don't have time to babysit" I mimicked him in his tone. "Asshole" I jumped from my seat when I heard Layla's voice, "Uh oh who are you angry at?" I mumbled, "No one" and even though I knew she didn't buy it, she let it go. "I brought you coffee. Enjoy" I thanked her before she left cabin. I couldn't believe Aryan. He was so rude and made me feel so embarrassed. I opened my computer to distract myself with work before I end up getting the urge to storm into his office to beat him senseless. Not that I could though, my father told me he has a black belt in Taekwondo and is trained in martial arts. I was working through my emails when my laptop chimed indicating a new email. I went to check it and froze. Aryan just sent me an email regarding extra work for mentoring. Aha! Got to him didn't I. I smiled proudly until I read the full email and quickly realised I just messed with the wrong person. He gave me several huge tasks to do by the end of today and he mentioned that if I don't complete them on time, he would be done mentoring me. f**k. I grabbed the back of my neck and rolled my head back as I groaned loudly. The office was empty, at least on my floor and only the lights of my cabin shone brightly. I looked at my list of task and ticked the box next to the last task I was supposed to complete. I glanced at the clock on my phone, it was one in the morning. I tapped the print option on my laptop and got out of my chair to do some stretches as my work printed slowly. I grabbed my belongings and the file filled with the work I completed, neatly, in order. I figured I will drop the file onto Aryan's assistant's desk so she can pass it to him first thing in the morning. The top floor of the building was only meant for Arya's office, his assistants desk and a meeting room. I expected it to be dark and empty considering it was one in the morning but Aryan's office was lit up and I saw him sitting on his desk typing away on his laptop. I slowly moved a little closer to his office, ensuring he doesn't see me just yet. I couldn't help but notice his forearms that were exposed since the sleeves of his shirt were now rolled up. He had unbuttoned a couple of his top buttons of his blue shirt and his hair was slightly messy. It looked as if he had ruffled his hair with his fingers. I wondered how it would feel to have my fingers tangled up in his hair. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes were plastered on his laptop screen in front of him. I watched his long, slender fingers swiftly hit the keys on his keyboard. I involuntarily hummed as I pictured those fingers pumping in and out of me. I froze when he raised two fingers of his right hand to my direction and moved them up and down, motioning me to come in without looking up from his laptop even once. Does he have a sixth sense or something? I knocked on the door and opened it before entering. Aryan didn't bother to look up from his laptop and carried on with his work. I cleared my throat and spoke softly, "Ive finished the work" Al I got was a 'hm' in response. I didn't know what else to say so I put the file on the table near the sofa but Aryan stopped me and told me to, "Bring it here" while he continued to type. I walked over to his desk, the sound of my heels echoing in the room and placed the file carefully on the desk. I jumped a little when Aryan shut his laptop and picked up the file. "Sit" was all he said as he leaned back and opened my file to read it. I took a seat opposite him and placed my bag next to me on the floor. I let mny eyes explore the veins on his forearms and from this angle I could see his chest, slightly exposed through the half- unbuttoned shirt. I wanted to see more of his chest but unfortunately it was still mostly covered by the shirt so I couldn't get a better look at it. "]ust take a picture" Sixth sense. I diverted my gaze elsewhere while he wrote something in the file and I looked back at him when he closed the file and I heard a thud when it hit the desk. "I left comments, Review it. want better work next time" I nodded silently. I noticed he was looking at me for the first time since I got here. His eyes could very much pierce through my soul if they wanted to. "Do I have to give you an invitation to leave my office?" I looked at him blankly until I realised I was suppose to leave. "Oh! I'm sorry" I scrambled to my feet and picked up my bag along with the file. "Thank you, Mr Arya and good night" Just as I was about to leave the office, I heard him say, "Aryan." I turned to him with my hand on the glass door, "What?" His eyes were back on his laptop screen and he said, "It's Aryan or Mr Aryan, even Prince is fine but not Mr Arya . That's my dad" and he continued to type away. "Right, of course. Good night" I scurried out of the lift and exited the office. I frowned and let out a groan once I realised Kamal isn't here. I messaged him to go home when I realised I will leave the office late. I opened the uber app and attempted to find a ride but since it was almost two in the morning, there was no car available. I sat there for about 20 minutes waiting for a car but I was having zero luck. I let out a shriek when I heard, "What are you sti- Woah relax" I clutched my chest and took in a deep breath, "You scared me" Aryan had his hands up in the air like he was surrendering, "Yeah I can see that" I let out a small laugh at my reaction. Aryan did no such thing. Instead he just said, "Get home" as he walked off with his car keys in one hand and his suit jacket in the other. "Oh what a great idea" I said sarcastically but I wasn't bold enough to say it until I knew Aryan was at a distance he couldn't hear me. The app still couldn't find me any drivers and I figured I would have more luck getting a taxi from the main road so I walked out and stood at the footpath. A bunch of taxis did pass by but they already had passengers in them so they couldn't stop. I heard a drunk man who was standing with a bunch of his drunk friends say, "Lift chahiye madam?" [Do you want a lift madam?] I panicked but figured maybe they would just walk away if I ignored them but they started to walk to me.[Where are you going at this hour, come with us, you'l have fun] My heart was beating loudly and panicked washed over me as they came closer. My mind was telling me to run but legs weren't cooperating. We were interrupted by the sound of an engine revving. A black Bugatti Veyron pulled up beside me and Aryan stepped out from the driver's side. "Get in" I obliged and ran to the passenger side and sat in. I didn't hear what Aryan said to them but I saw the whole group ran away like they saw a ghost. Aryan wallked back to the car and closed the door before he turned to me and shouted, "I told you to go home. Do you seriously have no brains? It's two in the morning and you're standing in the middle of nowhere!" I started to sob uncontrollably and looked away from him as tears rolled down my eyes. "Where do you live?" I couldn't bring myself to form a sentence so I just continued crying with horrendous hiccups escaping my lips. I continued crying and heard a woman's voice over the speaker. Aryan spoke up and said, "Mama where does Uncle Malik live?" And within minutes, the car started moving. I regained myself slowly and tried to wipe away my tears. I didn't dare look at Aryan because I knew I looked like a mess. I stared out the window and noticed the familiar streets of my apartment. Aryan pulled into my building and the car came to a halt. I didn't want to but I had to turn to him to thank himn. I looked at him, one hand on the wheel the other on his thigh and before I could say anything, "Go. Get rest" He said without even looking at me which I was glad he didn't because I didn't want him to see me like this. I got out of the car and sprinted to the lift of my building. I didn't hear Aryan drive away until the doors of my lift were almost closed.
