I knew he would keep me safe to the best of his ability, yet the idea of being in the same room with Jake deeply uncomforted me. Even without a wolf, he is a strong man, with a flare for the dramatic and macabre.
Jasper leads us into the forest, the trail is thin, and mostly overgrown. Obviously, these trails aren't used that often anymore.

I gaze up at him while we hike through the undergrowth.
"Yes, I know!"
He lifts me over a fallen tree and sets me back on the ground.
"Tell me why you're scared of changing me, besides the death part. Even though its rare wolves can change people too and death is just an inherent part of the change."
