Kiara
Kiara signed the deal, finally satisfied with the terms. She was the owner of yet another company, thanks to her cunning mind. Just like her mother, she was a woman of many talents.
When her father had started, he was the owner of a wine company. But eventually, with his success and growing interest, he bought multiple companies ranging from fashion to IT. Every company's name was changed into Kapoor's and some were even dedicated to Kiara and her sister. Kiara thought didn't buy all of them. She was hesitant because she didn't want to draw suspicions towards her. Moreover, she knew how to handle fashion, music, makeup, wine and entertainment. IT was beyond her and her sister's too. She had no idea how her father dealt with them. She had no intention to, though."Nice doing business with you, Miss Kapoor." the business partner, a fifty old man, said as he forwarded his hand for a shake.
She shook his hand, smiling at him.
"The pleasure's mine," she said. The man excused himself and Kiara's attention drifted to the board members.
"Yet another success!" her dear uncle exclaimed as he patted her on her back. Her uncle, or chachu as she called him, was almost a replica of her father. With the same black hair and storming grey eyes, the man reminded her of her father every single day. Her uncle was the one who protected her and Sejal in times of need and she couldn't be more thankful for his presence in their life.
The man was her father's right-hand man, sometimes even dealing with his business for him. Their father trusted his brother with their life, and so did she. The other members of the board simply smiled at her and nodded.
"Excuse me, I have a meeting," she says as she motions her chachu to follow her.
"Why does Hamesh uncle want to meet me? Was there something I wasn't informed of?" she asks her chachu as they exit the meeting room and head to her office."Your father was a mysterious man, angel. I don't know why he wants to meet you, but I am sure it's going to be important." her chachu replied.
They both entered her office, and her chachu took his seat on the sofa in the office.
"Ms Ace!" Kiara calls for her secretary. The redhead rushes in."You called for me, Miss Kapoor?" she asks."Yes, send Mr Hamesh in." she replies.
The secretary rushes out and Kiara stands in front of the glass wall, looking out. She wished she had a glass of whisky in her hand right now, but she didn't have her alcohol in the office.
The door opened and her father's lawyer walked in. Hamesh uncle was in his fifties, with his grey hair and glasses, he certainly looked wise. He had been with her father for a long time and often did the dirty legal work for him. Still, the man had saved her father numerous times from jail.
"Hamesh uncle, please make yourself comfortable," she says as she does namaste to him. No matter how rich she is, she will respect her elders who stood by her father's side no matter what."Kiara beta, you look all grown up." the man replies with a gentle smile on his face.
"Mr Kapoor." Hamesh uncle greets her chachu with a firm handshake."What brings you here, uncle?" she asks, seriously curious. The man had flown from India to New York for this, so it must be really important. Hamesh uncle settles on the chairs on the opposite side of her marble table and puts his suitcase on the table. He opens them, taking out some papers.
Kiara's curiosity perks up and she looks at her chachu, puzzled. She thought she knew everything about her father's yet she was wrong."When you were ten, your father drafted this agreement. He was supposed to give it to you when you were 18, but since he isn't here, I am doing the deed." the man replies as he hands some papers to Kiara. She grabs them, slowly reading them. She didn't care that she wasn't informed about this, she knew that Hamesh uncle was just doing his job and following her father's wishes.
When she finished reading through the document, her anger held no bound. How could her father do this to her?"This is outrageous! Why did he want me to do this?" she exclaims, trying to calm herself. She was in general composed yet matters that concerned her father did this to her. Her father surprised her to no extent.
"He wanted you to be happy, Kiara beta. Even though you were ten, he thought this was the best for you. He did this for you. Take it as his last wish." Hamesh uncle said, trying to calm down Kiara.
Her chachu took the papers from her, examining them. His eyes widened when he read through, clearly shocked that his brother would do this.
"Kiara, you need to think about this. This is a very big step. You are 18 now, you are your own person. You don't need to follow this." her chachu says.
But Kiara was lost in her thoughts. She knew her father wanted the best for her, he had left his business to her even though it was wrongfully snatched away from her. He had trusted her with everything and she knew, that he must have a reason to do this. It was her father's last wish.
Moreover, she had to back there for some unfinished business. Even in death, her father was taking control of her. And she trusted him.
"He must be 17 now, so the document still holds." she says as she turns to face the men in her office."It's time I take back what's mine." she says as she calls her secretary.
She had a long flight ahead.
