Revealing Herself

1934 Words
Saoirse was nervous. She was fidgety and couldn't relax. Liam had managed to find out where Shaun was laying up. He was at an apartment with another girl from their club. A pretty girl named Caitlyn. She now knew where he was and they were making plans on how to approach him. How to call him out safely in order to get him taken into custody.       Dominic had spoken to Detective Martins and had explained what they had been able to uncover about Shaun. He was standing by with an arrest warrant and waiting for the go ahead to snatch him up.      Damian was waiting for her when she came downstairs dressed to go out. The plan was for her to accidentally, on purpose be seen by Shaun, and have him follow her and try and get her alone. They had already set up her cell phone to track her movement. They would watch her every moment. Both the police and Damian. Dominic and Donavan would be on foot. Damian would follow by car. They had police located at various places along the street. Hopefully they had enough.      Damian drove her to the location, and they waited parked outside the apartment. There was a small strip mall across the street with a boutique and liquor store. She had him pull in around the side and got out. She leaned against the wall so they could talk through the open window.       'Liam said that he comes down at least twice a day the get a bottle. I'll walk into the boutique a head of him. If you wait here and Dom, and Da are close by in case he tries to get me out the back door , it should be good." She said looking around nervously.       "I'm here for you babe. You scream if you need me." He was ducking down to see her face. "Hey! Heads up!" Dominic's voice came over the walkie talkie they were using. I think I see him at the street corner getting ready to cross."       "Okay. Showtime!" She gave a nervous giggle. Then smoothing her red hair a bit and pulling her top down over her hips she stepped out from between the buildings and acted like she was just out shopping Her heels clicked on the pavement as she moved to the door of the boutique. She pulled the door open and a tiny bell jingled as she passed through. She stopped at a rack of tops just inside and started flipping through them as though she were shopping..  A minute later the little bell over the door jingled again. She moved away form her position and put the rack between herself and the door. She felt eyes on her. She grabbed a shirt off the rack and held it up like she was really considering it.      "Wrong color." A deep voice said. "With hair that red it would clash." He continued.      Her green eyes looked up and she was looking into the face of the man she saw shoot Lena in the alley. She took a deep breath. "Do I know you?" She asked. "You look vaguely familiar, and you have an Irish accent like my Da."      "No we haven't met, but we were supposed too. My name is Shaun. I'm to be your husband." He stated bluntly.      "I don't think so." She said backing away. "I'd know if I had a fiance out there." She was being positive."I don't think my Da would have arranged a marriage for me without consulting me."      He let out a loud laugh. "This isn't about your Da! This is about me and you!" He all but shouted. "Your uncle promised you to me. Now as fate has it, I'm taking whats mine." He was reaching for her.       "No!" She jumped away. "I'm going no where with you!" She kept a rack between them.      "All this time, planning trying to maneuver you so that I could get to you, and you just come walking along and shopping. It's fate girl. Further proof that we belong together." He was trying to poor on the charm. Speaking softly and moving closer. But for every step he took closer she took two backwards. She was trying to inch back around to the front door. "I have a fine house for us in Dublin, you'll live like a queen. You won't have to dance for living darlin, just for me." He was coaxing. "Ill take care of you real good."      She wouldn't take her eyes off him. When she knew she was close enough to dash out the door that was when she let him know what she knew about him. "No Shaun, that won't work. You think I want to be with someone who'd kill so mercilessly? I saw you Shaun. I saw you shoot that girl in the alley. I was there. I saw her crying and begging you. You just shot her! I saw it!" She screamed at him. "I'd never be with someone like that!" She dashed for the door. Pulling it open she stumbled outside and began running for the side of the building. She heard him coming up behind her. Felt his hand come down on her shoulder and spin her around. She came face to face with a gun. He was holding a gun on her. She froze in place. Her green eyes fixated on the gun.       "Well that's to bad then, because no one else is going to have you either." He growled. "That b***h had it coming!" He yelled. She was going to betray me. Warn you I was coming for you. Left this scratch along side my cheek." He said running his hand along the healing scratch. "I warned her. She knew I wouldn't be taking her. It was you as soon as I saw you dance. Poetry in motion. You are mine!"      She saw Damian creeping up behind him. She knew her Da and Dominic were close by too. "Why kill her though? Why do that to a woman you were sleeping with?" She was keeping his focus on herself.      "She was a quick roll. Nothing was going to be serious. I warned her, she wouldn't listen! No one listens to me! Look a you! Not listening to me either. I told you we are ment to be together and you run away! You're not going back to that place, that man! He can't have you!" He started to move towards her and that was when Damian made to jump him. The gun fired and she hit the sidewalk. There was so much noise! Yelling and grunting. She laid there and waited for peace. She heard sirens and police started yelling then Damian was on the ground beside her.  "Saoirse! Baby!" He gathered her into his arms.      She was trying to focus on him. "Damian, I think...I think I've been shot!" She gasped.      He gently rolled her over and she was grasping her stomach. Blood was gushing from a wound."Get me some help!" He yelled. "Some one please! Help she's been shot!" He pulled her closer into his arms. "Hang on baby. Help is coming. Please Irish, don't leave me." Tears rolled down his face. He was pressing his hand on her stomach to help stop the bleeding.      Donavan slide down beside him and kissed Saoirse's cheek. "The ambulance is coming girl."      They helped load Saoirse into the ambulance and they followed it to the hospital. They took her immediately into surgery.      The three men stayed in the waiting room to hear from the doctor. Detective Martins joined them at one point to let them know that Shaun was being booked for two counts of murder, and one count of attempted murder. Liam showed up at the hospital as well. He brought in coffee from a nearby Starbucks. They sat quietly waiting for the doctor to come out and tell them what was going on.      Six hours later the doctor stepped out. All four men met him. "Well, she's in recovery right now. She's one lucky young woman. The bullet missed any organs but did nick her liver. That was what took so long. We needed to stop the bleeding. We'll be moving her to a room soon and then you can visit with her. She's going to be out of it for a while, but she should be just fine. The fact that she stays so physically fit will help her in this. We turned the bullet over to the police and they now have it for evidence." He shook Donavan's hand. "Let them get her settled into her room, then the nurse will let you in."      Twenty minutes later they filed into her room. She laid like a pale version of herself against white pillows. She smiled weakly as they approached her bed. "Did we get him?"      Donavan hugged her tightly. "We did lass! He's behind bars as we speak."      "That's good Da. Uncle Liam, what about your wife? Will there be repercussions over this?" Liam moved closer to the bed.      "Don't matter if there are Lass. We are family, and her brother tried to kill you. She can go back to Dublin for all I care. And take her daughter with her." He growled.      "I thought she was your daughter too!" Donavan said in surprise.      "No, I was coerced into the marriage by her father Thomas. He didn't want the shame of an illegitimate offspring in the family. So sending her here to America  He essentially offered me Chicago and all the money we take in. He can have her back. All of them. It might mean trouble but I'm to the point I don't care. He has already taking from this family. I'm not letting him have any more. I have enough men here who will back me in this."       "I'm tired." Saoirse moved down into the bed.      "Okay Everyone out." Her Dad started pushing everyone to the door.      "Damian! Will you stay?" She asked quietly.       "Sure." He smiled. He moved back over to her bed. Her father blew a kiss to her and the three other men left the room. Damian pulled a chair closer to the bed and took her hand. Kissing her knuckles. "That was a close call baby." He whispered.      "Yeah. Too close, but he's locked up now and we can move on with our lives." She reached out and brushed the dark hair off his forehead. "Damian, I....well I want you to know." She took a deep breath. "Damian. I love you." She whispered.      He smiled and leaned closer. He kissed her softly. "Baby, I have loved you from the moment I first saw you. When you get out of here we are going straight to the loft getting all your stuff and you are moving in."      "I am?" And I still get to work too?"      "Sweetheart. You have to rest for a while but sure. You have full license to do what ever you want." He kissed her again.      "Good, I want to go to Seattle and face Ian, and his girl friend and I want to settle dad too. I think he needs to move here. Where we can take care of him "      He laughed, "I'll leave you to talk to him about it. I have no problem going back and facing your old dance partner. But right now you need to rest." He stood and leaned in for another kiss. "I'm going to go and let you sleep. I'll be back tomorrow and every day until you can come home."
