Years has passed by after that faithful day, it’s been 10 years on i growth anger, hate and quest for revenge in Marcus after he’s sisters burial. He had grown into a determined young man, driven by his desire for revenge. Marcus had just finished his schooling and was looking for a job that would bring him closer to his target. He had heard of Victor Don Rylan, a powerful politician with a reputation for ruthlessness. Marcus knew that working for Don Rylan would be the perfect opportunity to gather information and exact his revenge.
On this particular day, after he has made his researches, Marcus found out that the Almighty Don Rylan would be hiring new staffs, so he decided to apply. He knew fully week that he was qualified for the position he applied for and that would be his first step on his revenge mission. As Marcus entered the mansion, he was greeted by a young pretty girl who smiled at him. Her smile were wide as it made way for her beautiful white teeth to show, her eyes hidden beneath the smile. The smile looked familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. From her looks, She seemed to be around 18 years old, with piercing blue eyes and curly brown hair. Marcus was taken aback by her beauty, but he didn't let his emotions get the better of him. He had a mission in this mansion and he has to complete it.
"Hello, can I help you?" she asked, her voice sweet and melodious. Bringing him back to reality as he was lost.
"Erhm... I’m...I'm here for the interview," Marcus replied, stammering as he spoke trying as hard as possible to sound confident enough.
"Ah, you must be Marcus Moreno," she said, her smile growing wider. "I'll show you to the study. Mr. Rylan is waiting for you."she added as she led the way, walking graciously, her waist going in the rhythm of her steps. She was indeed a beautiful sight to behold Marcus though to himself. He couldn't help but notice the way she walked, the way her hair swayed with each step. He shook his head, focusing on the task at hand.
When they reached the study, the girl knocked on the door calmly and announced Marcus's arrival. "Mr. Rylan, Marcus Moreno is here for the interview." She spoke as she looked at Marcus, her eyes lit as she smiled at him again.
"Send him in," a deep voice replied.
The girl opened the door and gestured for Marcus to enter. "Good luck," she whispered, her smile faltering for a moment.
Marcus nodded and entered the study.
The study was large and beautiful decorated. It hard tons of awards placed neatly in the shelf. The other side of the shelf had books, articles and few cassettes too. A large portrait of Don Rylan and a lady beside him who Marcus assume to be his wife was hung on the wall. There was a Mini sitting room with a sofa and a fire place. The study room was well decorated and beautiful that Marcus wondered if It was actually a study room or his office.
Victor Don Rylan was a tall, imposing figure with a stern expression. He looked Marcus up and down before gesturing to a chair.
"So, Marcus Moreno," Don Rylan said, his voice firm. "Tell me about yourself, everything, every detail, don’t leave anything thing. He said without shifting his gaze away from him. For a moment, Marcus was uncomfortable yet summoned enough courage as not to blow his cover.
Marcus launched into a brief summary of his education and skills, highlighting his strengths and qualifications. Don Rylan listened intently, his expression unreadable.
"I see," Don Rylan said when Marcus finished. "And why do you want to work for me?"
Marcus hesitated for a moment before responding. "I'm looking for a challenge, sir. I've heard that you value hard work and dedication, and I'm willing to put in the effort to prove myself."
Don Rylan nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I like you.” He said, turning in a way that seems like he had just found something new. “I like your spirit ” he added, “ You're hired. You'll start tomorrow morning at 8 am sharp." He finally said, getting up from his chair, “ don’t be late, you won’ t like me if you are.” He added leaving the study room while Marcus stood there, speechless and amazed, he never thought it would be this easy in securing a job with the almighty Don Rylan, he have heard of how strict and mean he was but then this was far way easier for him than he thought.
After a series of interviews and questioning by Don Rylan, Marcus finally secured the job. He was happy, he knew his mission had just begun and he was definitely going to get to end of it. He knew that this was his chance to get close to his target, and he was going to make use of the opportunity well.
As he was leaving the mansion, Marcus stumbled upon the same girl again. He paused for a while, as if frozen in time. Just then, he noticed something, something that brought in memories of that awful burial day. He noticed the mark on her palm and the hand chain she wore. It was then that he realized who she was - the girl from the burial ground.
For a minute or They stared at each other for a while, both of them taken aback by the unexpected encounter. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean to..."
Marcus could only stutter out a "thank you" as he watched her leave. When she was gone, he noticed that one of her earrings had fallen to the ground. He picked it up, not wanting to let it go without giving it back to her. He knew he had to see her and even talk to her again and this was basically the only thing he thought he could use to bring up a conversation with the girl. He felt a sense of excitement at the prospect of seeing her again.
As he reached the entrance of the mansion, Marcus asked a servant who the girl was. "That's Miss Jemima, Mr. Rylan's daughter," the servant replied. "She's a sweet girl, but a bit spoiled, if you know what I mean."
The servant told him that she was Don Rylan's only daughter, Jemima. Marcus's joy knew no bounds as he thought to himself that he had found a perfect target in achieving his plan.
But as he looked at the earring in his hand, Marcus felt a pang of uncertainty. He couldn't shake off the feeling that his heart was reading something else for Jemima. At least he was happy that he would see her often, working in the mansion. But it was a mixed feeling, and he knew this yet he was willing to see where it leads.
