Chapter Two

2023 Words
A groan of pain escaped from Olivia's lips as she woke. Steadily she pushed herself up, clenching her eyes shut and rubbing circles on her thudding temples. Her eyes slowly flicker open as the light hurts her eyes. Suddenly, realizing her surroundings were unfamiliar and... strange. The entire room was brightly lit with white painted walls and not a single sign of a door or windows. She glanced around in confusion until her gaze moved to the bed she lay on. A flash of memories filled her head from the news of her friend's death, then the ash-filled sight and the demon boy. She gasped, remembering the boy as she jumped out of bed, stumbling onto the cold floor before pushing herself up and approaching the walls. Her palms slapped the cold walls, whimpering in fear and confusion. She hoped maybe there was a secret lock to the door. Ignoring the warm pain under her palms, she continued to bang. She groaned and whimpered, clenching her hands into fists and banging the wall. Suddenly, she stopped furrowing her brows in more confusion when she stared at her hand. She recalled that demon doy burnt her hand. However, looking at it- there was no burnt mark or bluster. In fact, it looked normal. Her gaze shifted from her hand down to her new outfit. It was a form-fitting jumpsuit and boots that felt so comfortable. A click echoed, turning her attention from herself to where a door appeared out of the blue. The door parted opened and a person entered. He stood at least six feet tall and lean, with pale grey skin. He had long midnight black hair reaching his butt. His whole eyes were black and stared in Olivia's direction. She flinched in discomfort. He also wore the same white jumpsuit that Olivia had on, but there was a sky blue line on the side seam, and he wore a floor-length coat. "You are awake. That's good." He said, firmly standing under the doorframe. "I am Ase, responsible for the young prince, and I would like to thank you for your help. I hope the translator is working and there are no complications." Olivia's mouth dropped, staring at Ase dumbfounded. An alien was in front of her. He frowned his eyebrows in puzzlement, "is the translator not working?" "Huh no, uh, I can understand you... But I don't understand where I am?" Olivia asked nervously. Ase smiled, "I know this may be hard for a primitive species, but there is life and intelligence outside of your world. You are currently on the Genesis spacecraft, which holds fauna and flora for study and observation. Sometimes we work to create new bio-species." Olivia gasped and uttered, " Oh my God, I will be a lab rat." He chuckled and shook his head 'no'. "Don't worry, you are in safe hands. The young prince will not allow us to do such a thing to you. Besides, if we want to study with you, we need your permission." "Who's this 'young prince' you talk of?" She asked. Ase kept mentioning a 'young prince', but she did not know who he was or if she had met him. Could this 'young prince' be the head of this spaceship? "Draco, the boy you helped in the forest. Speaking of him, he would like to see you." Ase stretched out his slim hand. He noticed her hesitation as she tried to push herself closer to the wall. "I swear not to harm you," he said with a tight smile. Take a risk... Well, this was a considerable risk. She hesitantly stood on her feet and carefully approached Ase. A few steps away from him, she glanced down at his hand, then back at him. She took his hand, and with a nod of his head, he guided her out the room, through a long empty hallway. They walked down the hallway in silence. Olivia gave Ase side glances, feeling she needed to say something or ask more from him. "How did you heal my hand?" Olivia asked. "In the Genesis Spacecraft, we study and observe and create many helpful technologies. We took a bit of your skin, so our machine knows your cells, and sprayed a substance for quick healing." His head lifted higher, and his chest puffed with pride as he examples with a hint of excitement in his voice. Olivia could not help but smile and lower her head. "Thank you..." She whispered. Finally, they reached a grand room with a lot of open space, but there was nothing special about this room. It reminded her of the room she woke up in until her eyes landed on a large wall window. Unconsciencely, Olivia slipped her hand away from Ase's. Without stirring her gaze away, she approached the window. Her eyes widened, seeing darkness with the flickering and shimmer of stars. There were precise and more outstanding numbers than the night skies on Earth. "Wow," she muttered under her breath. She placed her palms on the cold window, "are we in space?" She asked without turning her gaze away. "Of course, we headed towards Prince Draco's home planet," Ase said. She glanced over at Ase. "Prince Draco was born and will be raised here for his safety and for our observation. When he is old enough, he must return home." "Ase," a feminine voice called, catching Olivia and Ase's attention. They turned to see a beautiful six-foot-tall woman with pale grey skin and sea-blue hair that reached her butt. She had a round face, and her whole eyes were black. She looked and wore the same as Ase. Besides her was the little demon boy. He was all cleaned up. There was no blood or black marks on his face and clothing. He had jet black hair tied into a ponytail, normal dark eyes, and slightly tanned skin. He looked more human than the monster she saw in the forest. "Prince Draco, you wanted to say something to the human Miss," Ase said. "Olivia!" She said, and everyone turned their gaze at her. Suddenly, feeling awkward. "Please call me, Olivia... That's my name." Ase slightly nobs. Prince Draco lowered his eyes shyly and nervously played with his tiny fingers. Olivia found his shyness cute, biting her lower lip to stop herself from grinning. All eyes were on him, then he cleared his throat and stepped aside from the female alien. He slowly lifted his gaze to Olivia. "...Thank you for aiding me and... I apologize for hurting you." He said, slightly pouting his lips. Olivia smiled warmly, and her eyes met with his eyes. "It's okay. I'm glad you are okay. Anyway..." She nodded her head. The young prince awkwardly tightly smiled back at her, quickly lowered his gaze, then ran back to the female alien. He hid behind her. Olivia chuckled under her breath, turning her gaze back at Ase. "When can I go home?" She asked. "NO!" Everyone was surprised by Draco's outburst, snapping their gaze at him. He stepped away from the hiding spot, frowning his brows and pouting. Ase chuckled under his breath and turned to an awkward and confused Olivia. "What young prince is trying to ask if you can join us as we travel to Draco's home planet? And also, because the young prince has a taken a liking –" "ASE!" Draco yelled, snapping a glare at Ase. He glanced over at Olivia, who awkwardly stared at him. Frozen, his tiny cheeks turned a pink shade and snapped his gaze away from her. Olivia shook her head 'no' and turned her gaze to Ase. "I can't... I'm only fifteen, and I have a life on Earth... Family. I promise not to mention a word of this." She said. She glanced back at Draco, who had tears building up in his eyes and his shoulders dropped with disappointment. Heartbroken, he dropped his head. Quickly, she turned her gaze away from the little boy and stared out the window. Her parents must be worried about her this time, even though she was uncertain how long she had gone missing. But does she really want to go back to the world without her best friend? However, spending her years on a spaceship with the person who killed her friend? She turned her gaze back to Draco, who kept his head down. He was just a child, and maybe she was jumping to conclusions about her friend's death. However, the image of Draco in the forest looks like a monster surrounded by ash and covered in blood. Remembering he could control the fire, a shiver rolled down her spine as she wondered what would happen if he got angry and burned her alive? But it would be interesting to explore the galaxy with the crew... Ellie would have said that to Olivia. This could also be a chance to be away from her parents' strict control. A chance for some freedom. Take a risk... "Maybe... it will be interesting to see the galaxy," she said nervously, shrugging her shoulders. Prince Draco lifted his head with a broad grin. Surprised, he ran over to Olivia, grabbed her hand, then tagged her. "I like you to see my daggers and swords!" He said excitingly as he pulled a shocked Olivia. She glanced over her shoulder to Ase, who waved at her with a smile. Olivia began to regret her quick decision. "I am Prince Draco. I'm powerful and handsome. Also, smart." Draco said, glancing his shoulder at Olivia with a smirk. He continued dragging her down an empty hallway. A door suddenly opened, and he let go of Olivia's hand as he ran to the collection wall. "My swords and daggers are special and beautiful, but you're more beautiful..." He said with a slight blush, lowering his head. Olivia awkwardly chuckled, feeling that a kid was flirting, which was embarrassing. She hesitantly entered Draco's room, glancing around the room. It was a big room with a bed fit for a full-grown adult placed in the middle of the room. One side of the room had a desk, a chair, and shelves full of books, even scrolls. On the other side of the room, his daggers and swords with different handles and blades were perfectly placed on the wall. "I like this one because it's a monster tooth handle, decorated with small rubies, then the blade is black in color with a nice smooth finish." He said proudly as he took it and then walked towards her. Olivia stepped back, and she realized that Draco noticed her frightened reflex as he slowed his approach to her. She cleared her throat, then stepped forward with an awkward warm smile. Without saying a word, Prince Draco continued showing his blades. Olivia could not help but see an innocent child showing their interest to a new friend. "Olivia?" She snapped out her train of thought and looked down at Draco with a warm smile. "Do you like my collection?" He asked nervously, dropping his gaze to the floor. She hesitantly placed her hand on his head, "yeah, I do." She said. She glanced up at one, and she spotted a cute-looking dagger. It was small and simple; the handle was white wooden with flower carving decorated with tiny diamonds, and the blade was silver. "If you like that one, you can have it," he said. She glanced back at him and shook her head. "I don't think I should –" He stopped her and lowered it as he said, "it's to thank you and apologize for that..." Olivia recognizes that Draco looks guilty. It almost looks like he blamed himself. She sighed, going down to her knees, then cupped both Draco's chubby cheeks. She gently lifted his head and stared straight into each other's eyes. "Let's forget about that night... Okay. I forgive you, and thanks for the dagger," she said. Suddenly, the door opened, and the female alien walked in, "Prince Draco, it is time for your bath." She said. "May Olivia help me with my bath?" He asked excitingly, glancing between Olivia and the female alien. "Maybe not today. Miss Olivia may need some rest. Now go to the bathroom." She said. Prince Draco pouted, then hugged Olivia, "it was nice to meet you." He said, then ran off. Another door opened and closed behind him. Olivia stood, turning to the female alien with an awkward smile. "I am Emma, by the way," she said. "It was nice to meet you," Olivia said. "I meant to ask; how did Prince Draco end up on Earth?" "He was angry that his father did not want to talk to him. Ase and I thought he stormed off to his room, but he found the escape pods and was on Earth. Luckily, you found and removed the piece from his foot, or else he would have bled to death and not healed." "He can heal?" Emma nodded her head, "it is in the genes to heal, especially since her parents have healing ability." "What are his parents?" "His father is an alpha red dragon shifter, who must have impressive DNA." Emma hummed happily, "his mother is a high-level demon. So, Prince Draco is a half-demon and dragon. He is a demon dragon. And so far, his powers are amazing and are growing." Emma walked to where Draco had gone. The door opened and closed behind her. Olivia began to think about Draco, remembering she thought of him as a demon. But a demon dragon. Olivia turned on her heels and headed out, but a gasp escaped her lips when she bumped into Ase. "Sorry I didn't see you." She said, looking down at the dagger that Prince Draco had given her. "Let's walk to your chamber," he said. Quietly walked out of Prince Draco's room. "Draco's father is tough on his son for a reason to make him strong. Any signs of weakness can be one's downfall. That is why he is here." Ase said, staring out into the emptiness. Olivia remained quiet, staring down at the dagger she had in her hands. She could not believe a young child was going through this. His father did not want to show any affection for his own child. " In Draco's world, a child his age would be in an army training camp, either taken from their home or their parents, take them there." Ase continued. "Besides, there's a low birth rate because they have a long lifespan and harsh conduction." "That is heartless, though," she said. "That is life. There's always a war between species/groups because of pride and desire for power." They continued their way to Olivia's new room. "Are they just demons and dragons?" Olivia asked as the door to her room opened. "Fairies, witches, and animal shifters are there too..." Ase made a thinking face, "Well, have a nice night's sleep. You have a long journey. Good night, Miss Olivia." "Good night Ase," Olivia said as she walked into her room. Once the door closed, she walked towards her bed and looked down at the dagger. "I'll name you Ellie, since I know she would have liked this one. I miss you."
