Kate was a fierce women - one who would face the devil himself if it meant that her family would be safe. I have seen her, time and time again, going above and beyond the call of duty to find a way to ensure the safety of her family. Let us remind ourselves of something here - when the story first began, the entire reason Kate was on board to move to the city, was to find a better place to raise Lucy. Her motive was always the best decision of her family - it always has been and always will be.
Bearing that in mind, i came to the immediate conclusion that Kate was most certainly risking her life to save one of ours, but there was one problem with the theory - and that was the fact that she was terrified of whatever it was that was fast approaching us. She has never actually had pure fear
