Stepping Up
Maya's POV I glanced up to see Athens burning the heart of the witch in his hand. Looking down at the tip of the sword I seen her blood. Looking to see her body and her head in to separate places. I got light headed. I used my sword for balance, placing my hand to my head. My line of sight showed me I was covered in blood spray. It was instant and not pretty. I fell to the ground retching my guts out. I heard foot steps coming closer. Big hands holding my side and another hand lifted my hair. "It's ok darling," I heard Joe say gently near my ear. Embarrassment creeped up my face. I was supposed to be this bad ass warrior princess. But nope, my first kill and I am on my knees on the ground vomiting up my guts. Joe helped me stand, wrapping his arms around me his fingers rubbed circles
