In a meadow , the sun's rays were shining, illuminating her presence and the wind softly blowing across her long auburn hair.
She could see her brother and her best friend sword fighting. She smiled and thought
'They had all really grown up. She remembered how short she was as a child and how her brother and best friend were very protective of her, they cared for her so much, but still she couldn't accept that from a certain person. She actually wanted to be cared for, but not in the same way Brad looked at her ' and with that her gaze shifted to him .
He wasn't all handsome, but he was good-looking to some extent, at about an average level at especially with the dimple on his left cheek . He is well built and had a tanned skin . He had those striking blue eyes , the lightest shade of them, and if she admitted to herself well enough, that was one of the things she had been attracted to him the most. And not even talking about his jet black hair, she wished she could touch them and run her hand across them.
She wanted him but, annoyingly, he only saw her as a younger sister. He didn't look at her "that way" . And this all started when she was very young. She had just lost her mother , she remembered how he was the one who had pulled her out of her misery . She had been closed off from her family but he was the only one who could make her eat and even make her smile. And she remembered how he did it.
He had just come up to her and had spoken to her in a really hard manner.
" Do you think your mother would be happy seeing how weak you are ?"he said.
Diana expected he would persuade and beg her or atleast sympathise with her, but she had been hard and cold .
He even challenged her and said,
" I didn't know you were this weak" and there was this one thing about Diana .
She couldn't accept someone looking at her as weak. In fact, she hated it . She was always very stubborn and strong and somehow always found herself in a lot of trouble .
She smiled remembering those memories , knowing that was when her long-term crush had started , an unrequited love.
Deep in her thoughts, she didn't notice her brother calling out for her.
"DIANA!!" Sam yelled .
This snapped her out of reverie and she instantly was met with worried gazes from both her brother and best friend. She immediately blushed, seeing how her mind had trailed off .
'Ugh, why must he be soo hot' , she thought.
Gazing at Brad who was sweating out off the short fight he had just finished with her brother.
" I'm...so.rry I didn't know you were calling " stuttered Diana .
" What were you thinking about , and you seem red ,are you feeling sick?" said Sam. He was obviously worried.
He couldn't understand what was wrong with Diana, because he knew Diana was always sharp-witted and also very aware of her surroundings.
Right now she seemed out of place, like she was day dreaming .
Brad quietly observed what happened. He wasn't a fool. He could always feel those heated gazes Diana threw at him when she thought he wasn't looking, but he chose to ignore it . As much as he loved her , he couldn't give her what she wanted. He saw her as his younger sister , nothing more and more so, he had already given up on love.
He was once in love and now she was gone.
And even if he failed to admit it , he still missed her terribly, Hannah. She was very fair and pale and had the prettiest set of almond eyes.
He could still remember their memories and now she was married to someone. Apparently, she had been sworn to someone else . It broke him , that was why, even when he was aware of the feelings Diana had for him . He couldn't give her hope , not when he was still in love with someone else.
"You should try doing something useful and not just sit doing nothing " snapped Brad.
With this, he turned and started heading toward the village, ignoring the siblings' gazes. Sam was looking at him with a 'what got his pant twisted' gaze while Diana felt hurt and shocked. She didn't expect him to be blunt because, truly, she was always idling and playing around , never serious about life. She stared at him, wondering if he would ever seem to see her in a different way from a sister.
"Don't worry, I think he just needs to have some little time to himself " explained Sam, he couldn't bear seeing his sister hurt and he was also aware of how close both her and Brad once were .....before he came back . It would be a lie if he didn't sometimes feel curious as to why Brad had suddenly changed but despite him trying to talk to him about it , he didn't seem like he was ready to explain to him so he had decided to just let him be.
He felt someday Brad would end up opening up to them all, but for now they just have to understand him and give him the space he needs.
Noticing that the weather , had begun to change .....he could see that a storm was coming from a mile away ....he then decided it was about time they went home .....their father would be very cross with them.
But Diana was busy looking in a certain direction, she could feel something from deep within the forest....it was calling to her but before she could feed her curiosity
Her brother immediately grabbed her hand and said
"Let go home, father would be very worried.....besides a storm is coming "
With that Diana completely forgot about the presence she had felt and quickly stood up and both siblings started walking back home .
