Chapter 5: The Past

690 Words
Luna couldn't shake off the feeling that Kael was hiding something from her. As they parted ways, she couldn't help but wonder what secrets he was keeping. She decided to do some digging and see if she could uncover more about Kael's mysterious past. She spent the next few days researching, trying to find any information she could about Kael's family or his history. But every lead she followed seemed to end in a dead end. Just when she was about to give up, Luna stumbled upon an old, dusty book in the attic of her cottage. As she flipped through its yellowed pages, she came across a passage that made her heart skip a beat. It was a mention of a family with the same last name as Kael's Baxson , a family with a long history of... guarding secrets. Luna's eyes widened as she read on, her mind racing with possibilities. What could Kael be hiding? As she continued reading, Luna heard a faint noise coming from outside. She looked up to see Kael standing in her doorway, his eyes fixed intently on hers. "I think it's time we talked about my past," Kael said, his voice low and mysterious. Luna's heart skipped a beat as Kael stepped into the room, his eyes locked onto hers. She felt a shiver run down her spine as he approached her, his movements fluid and predatory. "I'm ready to tell you everything," Kael said, his eyes burning with intensity. "My family has a... complicated history. We've been around for a long time, and we've learned to adapt." Luna's mind was racing with possibilities. "What are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're not like anyone I've ever met." Kael's eyes seemed to gleam in the dim light of the attic. "I'm a vampire," he said, his voice low and husky. "And I've been watching you, Luna. I've been watching you for a long time." Luna's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Kael. A vampire? She had always thought they were just myths, legends. But Kael's words seemed to echo in her mind, and she knew that she wasn't dreaming. As she looked at Kael, Luna saw something in his eyes that made her heart skip a beat. She saw the truth, the intensity, and the passion. "Why are you telling me this?" Luna asked, her voice steady. Kael's eyes locked onto hers, and he took a step closer. "I'm telling you because I want you to know the truth," he said. "I want you to know that I'm not like other vampires. And I want you to know that I care about you, Luna." Luna's heart was racing as she looked at Kael. She saw the sincerity in his eye. Luna's mind was reeling as she processed Kael's revelation. A vampire? She had always thought they were just myths, legends. But here she was, standing face to face with one. "Why are you telling me this?" Luna asked again, her voice barely above a whisper. Kael's eyes seemed to bore into her soul as he replied, "I'm telling you because I want to be honest with you, Luna. I want to be with you, but I need you to know what you're getting yourself into. Being with a vampire comes with risks. There are those who would seek to harm you, simply because of who I am." Luna's heart skipped a beat as she looked at Kael. She saw the vulnerability in his eyes, and she knew that she was willing to take that risk. "I can take care of myself," Luna said, her voice steady. "I'm a werewolf, after all." Kael's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I know you can," he said. "But that doesn't mean I'm not worried about you. I care about you, Luna. Deeply." Luna's heart fluttered at Kael's words. No one had ever looked at her the way Kael did. No one had ever made her feel the way he did. As they stood there, locked in each other's gaze, Luna knew that she was ready to take a chance on Kael.
