Elena’s heart slammed against her ribs as Alex’s fingers tightened on her waist. The gown still hung loose around her hips. His body pressed warm and solid behind her. The message from Uncle Richard hung in the air like smoke.
"He is coming here tonight?" she asked. Voice barely above a whisper. She turned in his arms. The locket swung heavy between her breasts. "With more proof about my father?"
Alex nodded once. His jaw looked carved from stone. The scar above his eyebrow stood out sharp under the low bedroom lights. "He says the crash was not random. Claims your father had connections to the people who ran my fiancée off the road." He adjusted his watch without looking. Once. Twice. "If he walks through that door with evidence, this whole deal explodes."
Elena stepped back until her legs hit the edge of the bed. Her bare skin prickled. "I did not know. My father ruined plenty of lives but I never heard anything about a crash. You have to believe me."
"Believe you?" Alex’s voice dropped dangerous. He followed her. Towered over her. "You signed a contract while hiding you were the doctor who called time of death on the woman I loved. Now this?"
She bit the inside of her cheek hard. The sting helped her stay upright. "I signed because those men were going to destroy my family. My brother. My mother’s hospital. I did not come here to hurt you."
Alex’s hand came up. Cupped her jaw firm. Not hurting. But leaving no room. His thumb pressed against her lower lip. "Then prove it. Stop hiding behind half-truths."
The air between them crackled. Anger. Heat. Something deeper neither wanted to name. Elena’s breath came faster. Her breasts rose and fell against the thin slip. She felt exposed. Raw. And wanting.
"Make me," she whispered before she could stop herself.
Alex’s eyes darkened. He pulled her forward hard. Their mouths crashed together. No softness this time. Hungry. Demanding. His tongue swept in like he already owned the right. Elena moaned into his mouth. Her hands fisted in his shirt. Pulling him closer.
He backed her onto the bed. The gown slipped completely off. She lay there in nothing but the thin slip and her locket. Alex stood over her. Chest rising fast. He shrugged off his jacket. Unbuttoned his shirt slow. Muscle and tension revealed inch by inch.
"You want this?" he asked. Voice rough. "Say it."
"I want it." Elena reached for him. Fingers tracing the lines of his stomach. "Even if it ruins us both."
He came down on her. Heavy. Perfect. His mouth found her neck. Teeth grazing. She arched under him. A gasp escaped when his hand slid up her thigh. Pushed the slip higher. Found bare skin.
"Alex..." Her voice broke as his fingers teased higher. Stroked. Learned her. She pressed against his hand. Needing more.
He kissed lower. Across her collarbone. Down to the swell of her breasts. The locket caught between them. Cool metal against heated skin. He pulled the slip down. Mouth closing over her n****e. Sucking hard.
Elena cried out. Fingers digging into his shoulders. Her body moved against him. Hips rolling. Seeking friction. The ache between her legs grew unbearable. Wet. Ready.
"You feel this?" he murmured against her skin. Two fingers slid inside her slow. Deep. "This is real. Not the contract. Not the lies."
"Yes." She rocked against his hand. Breath coming in short gasps. "God yes."
He added another finger. Thrust deeper. Thumb circling where she needed it most. Elena’s head fell back. Moans spilling out uncontrolled. The pleasure built fast. Sharp. She was close already. Trembling on the edge.
Alex pulled back suddenly. Eyes locked on hers. "Look at me."
She did. Cheeks flushed. Lips parted.
He freed himself. Hard. Thick. Pressed against her entrance. "Last chance to stop."
"Do not stop." She wrapped her legs around him. Pulling him in.
He thrust forward. Filled her in one smooth stroke. They both groaned. Elena’s nails dug into his back. The stretch burned perfect. He stayed still a moment. Letting her adjust. Forehead pressed to hers.
Then he moved. Deep. Hard. Controlled. Each thrust drove the air from her lungs. She met him stroke for stroke. Hips rising. Desperate. The sound of skin meeting skin filled the room. Mixed with their heavy breathing. Her moans. His low curses.
In the middle of it, lost in the heat, Elena whispered against his neck. "That night... I held her hand. Told her to fight. She whispered your name before she..."
Alex froze mid-thrust. Body rigid above her.
"What did you just say?" His voice came dangerous. Low.
Elena’s eyes widened. Realization hit too late. "Alex... I did not mean..."
His phone rang on the nightstand. Loud. Insistent. Uncle Richard’s name flashed on the screen.
Alex pulled out of her completely. Left her aching. Empty. He grabbed the phone. Answered on speaker.
"What do you want?" he growled.
Richard’s voice came through cold. "I have the full file. Elena’s father funneled money to the men who caused the crash. She knew. Check the records yourself. End this marriage or I take everything."
Alex looked down at Elena. Naked. Flushed. Still trembling from what they had started. His eyes held something raw. Hurt. Anger. Desire that refused to die.
"You were there that night," he said. Voice flat but dangerous. He pulled back further. Standing over her like a man who had just been cut open. "Weren’t you?"
Elena sat up slowly. Arms wrapping around herself. The locket felt like a weight now. The heat between them still crackled. But everything had shifted.
The phone stayed on. Richard waiting for an answer. Alex’s body still showed how much he wanted her. Hard. Tense. But his eyes held questions that could destroy them both.
Alex ended the call. Dropped the phone. He looked at Elena with eyes that burned. "Get dressed. My uncle is on his way up. And you are going to tell me everything. Right now. Before I decide if I can still touch you." His hand reached out. Stopped halfway. The tension in the room felt ready to snap.
