“Are you okay?” Lee asked as he approached the young woman in the kitchen. She was helping the household staff prepare dinner for his grandfather’s birthday celebration. They had decided to hold it early, knowing his grandfather’s siblings were leaving soon and might not make it on the actual day. Lee and his grandfather were also scheduled to fly abroad for a business trip. He found her seated at the table, head bowed. Just earlier, she had left with such energy—now it was like the life had been drained out of her. Lee and Simone had both noticed the drastic change. On top of that, she’d returned damp and smelling faintly of coffee. “Lee… it’s you,” Samantha murmured, finally lifting her head. Lee’s gaze immediately swept over her—she didn’t just look tired. Her face was unusually pale.
