Peace never announces when it’s about to end. It just… fractures. ⸻ The morning had started unlike any other. Aaron left Elara in bed not without giving her a forehead kiss and dropping a little note to let her know he had an emergency meeting he couldn’t afford to miss in his office. ⸻ Aaron sat in his office, reviewing documents he hadn’t fully read. ⸻ His mind wasn’t on work. ⸻ Not lately. ⸻ It had been on her. ⸻ On last night. On the way Elara laughed more now. On the way she didn’t hesitate before speaking. On the way she looked at him— like she saw him. ⸻ A soft knock came at the door. ⸻ “Come in,” Aaron said. ⸻ His assistant stepped in, hesitant. ⸻ “Sir there’s… something you need to see,” she said carefully. ⸻ Aaron frowned slightly. ⸻ “What is it?”
