CHAPTER FORTY-ONE It is late. Travis is in an interrogation room at the St Kilda Police station on Chapel Street, East St Kilda with Detective Lois Baldock. He has already given his statement. It is clear he isn’t the murderer, and the cops haven’t yet made it known to the press or public. They weren’t even calling it a murder; not yet, if ever. A hooker from Sydney with no family or friends takes too much heroin and is found dead in a St Kilda Motel. Who gives a f**k? Unless the guy who finds her is Travis Whyte, who was working in the Cross Motel when Ann was killed. The Detective says to Travis, ‘You can go now, Mr Whyte, thank you for your help.’ He stands up.
