Kathryn:
After Emilia left, the room felt cold and quiet. I realized that I forgot to ask her where everything was. I got up off of the bed and looked around the room. It really was quite large, I couldn't imagine why anyone would need such large quarters. I gave a faint laugh and walked over to the other room, why were there multiple rooms in his quarters, was it really so bad to have just one room? This room had a fire place against the back wall, a beautiful rug, It was a deep red with a beautiful golden pattern, on the rug were two chairs facing the fire place. I walked up to the chairs and ran my hand across the top of the chair, they were nicer than any chairs I have ever felt. I walked towards the fire place, on the mantle above the fire place was a small box, I picked it up and tried opening it but it wouldn't budge, what could he be hiding in such a small box? thunder rattled the room and my attention went to a set of double doors leading to a balcony. I walked to the doors and looked at the sky, it was dark and clouds stretched as far as they eye could see. I slowly opened the doors and stepped outside. the air was crisp, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes as the breeze touched my face. I opened my eyes and looked towards the horizon, there was a small village in the distance, what I wouldn't give to have a life there instead of in the castle, a life free of murder and fear. A life where I could fall in love and my dreams would become a reality, a life where my children would grow up with a father that truly cares for them. I felt rain hit my face and I let it, as the rain fell down my cheeks so to did tears. I cried again for the dream he took from me, I cried for the family I could never have, I cried for the freedom he took away from me. But most of all I cried out of fear, fear if what he would do to me. so as the rain hit my skin I didn't care that I was drenched, I just stood there and cried.
Rafe:
I made my way to my quarters determined to demand respect, determined to create a fear in her that would put her in line. As I approached the guards standing watch outside my room I asked them if they had heard anything, and if she was making a fuss they told me they heard her cry for a while then she quieted down. they also told me that her maid left soon after she entered and hasn't returned, odd normally maids we meant to stay with their ladies unless dismissed. I entered the rooms and looked around at first I didn't see her but then my eyes went to the balcony. what on earth was she doing standing in the rain, my anger flared and I stormed over to her and grabbed her by the arm pulling her inside. she jumped scared, not realizing I had entered the room. "What is wrong with you are you trying to catch a cold or something, you have got to be out of your mind standing in the rain like that, and where is your maid?" she looked scared, good the plan was working. "I'm sorry your grace, I didn't realize that my actions would anger you so much" she paused and looked at the ground before resuming, "I sent my maid home for the evening". "WHAT? Why on earth would you do such a stupid thing?" she tensed as I yelled at her and tried t back away but I just pulled her closer, "I don't know sire, I thought it would be a nice thing to do for her" I took a deep breath and looked towards the door, I called for my servant, "DONALD" the door quickly opened and I saw my servant enter quickly and bow, "go get a new gown and night dress for Lady Kathryn, and be quick about it I dont have all day" he nodded his head and quickly left the room. "One day Kathryn, you haven't even been here one day and look at what trouble you're causing" she stood there silent, I knew that she had to be scared of me for her to be this silent. Thats when it hit me, I never gave her a chance to say goodbye to her old life, maybe thats all she needed, one more day. "look at me Kathryn" she slowly looked up at me and barely made eye contact."Tomorrow will be your last day" she looked confused and even more scared, I laughed at her confusion, "Not like that, Tomorrow you and I will spend one last day in your old life, this is the last day that I will allow you to do what you wish, starting after breakfast and ending before dinner, we can go into town are go visit your family or both. However after tomorrow you belong to me. tomorrow is your chance to say goodbye to everything, after that I will show you life at court and teach you all you need to know. Am I clear?" I could tell she looked nervous but she also seemed less tense. I couldn't tell what tomorrow was going to bring, as long as it put her in line.
