The forest was eerily quiet under the pale light of the moon the kind of silence that warned of danger lurking just out of sight. Adam walked ahead of the group his sharp gaze scanning the darkened trail. Audrey followed closely her heart pounding as she felt the tension radiating from him. Beside them Jerek moved silently his senses as heightened as Adam's. A small group of their pack followed behind their footsteps cautious as they navigated the uneven terrain.
“We shouldn’t have come this far” Jerek muttered his hand brushing the hilt of his knife. “Something feels... off.”
Adam’s jaw tightened. “We needed supplies from the contact. Axel doesn’t control every corner of this territory. Or at least he didn’t.”
