The roar of the SUV’s engine reverberated through the night as Adam gripped the steering wheel tightly his knuckles white. His sharp eyes darted between the rearview mirror and the winding road ahead. The dark silhouettes of Axel’s men grew larger in the distance their vehicles closing the gap with alarming speed.
“Adam they’re catching up!” Audrey’s voice trembled as she glanced over her shoulder her pulse pounding in her ears.
“I know” Adam said through gritted teeth his tone calm but steely. “They won’t take us. I won’t let them.”
