The sun was bright as Audrey waved goodbye to the children at the orphanage her heart full from the laughter and connections shared throughout the day. Each hug and high-five lingered filling her with a sense of belonging she hadn’t felt in a long time. She marveled at how the children’s spirits seemed to lift each time she visited as if her presence alone could mend their hearts. “Miss Audrey! Look what I drew!” A little girl with bright wide eyes ran over holding up a crayon drawing of two stick figures holding hands under a sunny sky. “That’s you and me” the girl said with a grin her cheeks dimpling. Audrey crouched down to her level taking the drawing with gentle hands. “It’s beautiful Tara! You’re such a talented artist. And look how happy we are here.” The girl beamed and nodded
