WRITER’S POV
Audrey sat up carefully in the hospital bed leaning against the headboard. The past week had felt like a blur of monitors beeping doctors examining and Adam hovering nearby. She glanced at the door where Adam was talking to the doctor.
He looked tense his brow furrowed but when he caught her gaze he offered a reassuring smile.
“Alright Audrey” the doctor said stepping into the room. “You’re ready for discharge but I want you to take it easy. No stress no exertion. You need rest.”
Audrey nodded grateful to leave the sterile walls of the hospital. She felt Adam approach holding out her coat.
“Are you ready?” he asked softly.
“Yes… but where are we going?”
Adam’s eyes softened. “Somewhere familiar where you can rest.”
