Isabelle glanced at Matthew and let out a sigh, "Apart from him, no one in the Ace family would do something like that. Matthew withdrew his hand from her shoulder, adjusting his shirt cuffs with a half-smile, and said, "Yeah, only someone as reserved as Alex would do such clingy things. They engaged in sporadic small talk ranging from business to relationship to their personal lives, and Isabelle set down her tablet, looking at Matthew, she asked, "Did you come to Ravenwood for something. Matthew leaned back on the sofa and replied, "I came to meet an old acquaintance. Isabelle questioned, "Hugh?" Matthew turned his head, looking at her, and said, "Yes, but I won't help you. Isabelle pursed her lips and responded, "Regarding Sarah's matter, it's not personal revenge. Matthew loosened his necktie and said, "I know, you're not that kind of person. Isabelle was about to express her gratitude when she heard Matthew unreservedly say, "But I am that kind of person, if you offend me, I will seek revenge. Isabelle's words of thanks got stuck in her throat, and she lost the desire to utter them. Isabelle found Matthew's frequent appearances in her sight lately peculiar, suspecting that he might be keeping an eye on her, worried that she might do something detrimental to the Ace family's company. After contemplating for a while, Isabelle hesitated and wanted to have an open conversation, but they were abruptly interrupted by a knock on the door. Isabelle paused and turned to Matthew, instructing him, "You go to the bedroom. Matthew teased, "Am I that much of a secret" Isabelle reached out and grabbed his wrist, saying, "I don't want to explain to my assistant why you're here." Isabelle effortlessly pulled Matthew along, and they headed nonchalantly towards the bedroom. Once he entered the bedroom and closed the door, Isabelle finally felt relieved and proceeded to open the room door. Outside the door stood Lindsay, holding the laundered clothes she had sent. Isabelle reached out and accepted them, expressing her gratitude. Lindsay raised her lips and asked, "Miss... Morgan, what should we eat tonight?" Isabelle was about to answer when the bedroom door suddenly opened, and Matthew, holding his phone, walked out, his voice magnetic, with a hint of a mischievous smile, "Alright, wait for me downstairs. Isabelle remained silent. Lindsay exclaimed, "Mr. Matthew" She knew she shouldn't have trusted him!! As Matthew reached the door, he ended the call, put away his phone, and used his long, affectionate, and ambiguous fingertips to tuck the loose strands of hair on Isabelle's cheek behind her ear, saying, "Hugh asked me out for dinner tonight. Isabelle's gaze swept over a stunned Lindsay in front of her, and she narrowed her eyes, responding, "Okay". Matthew noticed Isabelle's displeasure but didn't care. He turned his head and greeted Lindsay, "The assistant of... Lindsay snapped out of her daze, feeling embarrassed, and replied, "Hello, Mr. Matthew" Matthew lazily smiled and said, "Buy some porridge for Ms. Morgan, She has a weak stomach and can't eat anything else. Lindsay hurriedly agreed, sensing a subtle atmosphere between the two. Lindsay hadn't figured out the mystery yet, but Matthew had already taken confident strides and left. Lindsay watched Matthew's figure as he stepped into the elevator, then took two steps closer to Isabelle and asked, "Ms. Morgan, are you close with Mr. Matthew?" Isabelle pursed her lips and replied, "Just so-so." Lindsay looked surprised and said, "Really? But it seems like Mr. Matthew is quite intimate with you. He even knows that you can only have porridge for dinner!" Isabelle averted her gaze and turned towards the room, saying, "Let's go eat spicy crayfish tonight." Lindsay exclaimed, "Huh?" As Isabelle turned her back to Lindsay and picked up her tablet from the coffee table, she said, "He was lying to you. I can eat anything for dinner." Lindsay finally realized that Isabelle's choice of spicy crayfish was a contradiction to Matthew's statement. Lindsay continued, "Ms. Morgan, can you and Mr. Matthew be considered childhood friends?" Isabelle's bent posture froze, and she replied, "Not really." Lindsay, who usually didn't talk much, became excited today after seeing Matthew. It was as if her floodgates of words had been opened. She said, "But I heard from people at the company that you two grew up together!" Isabelle straightened her body while holding the tablet, saying, "I grew up with Alex, not Matthew. Matthew... he came to the Ace family later." Lindsay nodded like a chick pecking at grain, saying, "I remember now. They say Mr. Mathew is the illegitimate child of the Ace family!" Isabelle remained silent. Matthew, an illegitimate child of the Ace family? Not really! Outsiders may not know, but Isabelle knew very well that initially Mr. Edmond, Matthew's father married Matthew's mother. As Lindsay finished speaking and saw Isabelle remaining silent, she realized she had said something wrong and quickly covered her mouth, apologizing in a muffled voice, "Ms. Morgan, I didn't mean it that way. I didn't mean to speak ill of Mr. Matthew." Isabelle smiled and said, "It's alright, no need to apologize. You've been with me for two years, I know your character." Hearing Isabelle's words, Lindsay felt relieved. For dinner, Lindsay and Isabelle had spicy crayfish at a restaurant across from the hotel. They both sweated profusely while eating and ordered two bottles of Sprite. Lindsay looked at Isabelle sitting opposite her and, for the first time, felt a hint of a fiery aura around Isabelle. Ms. Morgan, has anyone ever told you that you're beautiful? Not just ordinary beauty, but the kind that captures people's hearts at first sight," Lindsay said, her mouth turning red from the spiciness, gazing unwaveringly at Isabelle. Isabelle raised an eyebrow and asked, "Really?" Lindsay responded, "Yes! It would be even better if you smiled more. Everyone hesitates to get close to you because of your relationship with the Ace family." Isabelle leisurely peeled a shrimp tail and said, "I don't have much of a relationship with the Ace family." Lindsay didn't pay much attention to what Isabelle said and took a big sip of Sprite in front of her, then asked, "Ms. Morgan, when Mr. Matthew mentioned Hugh, is it the same person we wanted to invite?" Isabelle fed the shrimp meat into her mouth and chewed, saying, "Yes." Lindsay became excited and asked, "Can Mr. Matthew help us?" Isabelle took off her disposable gloves and replied, "No, Mr. Matthew is not the kind of person who would show favoritism." Disappointment was evident on Lindsay's face as she said, "Oh." Isabelle understood Matthew. Despite his seemingly carefree and lazy appearance, he always knew how to separate his personal and professional life. As they left the restaurant, Lindsay, gathering her courage, reached out to hold Isabelle's arm. Isabelle glanced down at Lindsay and let her hold on to her arm. Lindsay gained some confidence and whispered, "Ms. Morgan, I've been with you for two years, but this is the first time I've traveled with you." Isabelle responded, "Yes, I haven't had many business trips in the past two years. Occasionally, when I do, I don't need to bring an assistant." Lindsay awkwardly smiled and said, "I think you're a nice person." Isabelle replied, "Thank you." Back at the hotel, Isabelle's stomach ailment flared up in the middle of the night, causing her to roll in pain on the bed. She bit her lip and endured it, but eventually got up, suppressing the pain, and drank two large glasses of hot water to find some relief. Isabelle's stomach ailments had plagued her for years, casting a shadow over her overall well-being. It was an issue that had its origins in her childhood, stemming from a combination of factors that gradually took a toll on her digestive system. The troubles with her stomach began when Isabelle was just a young girl. She was a delicate child, prone to bouts of illness and easily affected by external factors. As she grew older, her sensitivity persisted, particularly in relation to her diet and stress levels. The exact cause of Isabelle's stomach ailments remained elusive, but it was believed to be a combination of genetic predisposition, dietary sensitivities, and the impact of stress on her body. Isabelle's delicate constitution made her susceptible to various digestive issues, including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and occasional gastritis. Certain foods triggered adverse reactions in Isabelle's stomach, leading to discomfort, bloating, and nausea. Greasy foods were particularly problematic for her, exacerbating her symptoms and causing her distress. As a result, Isabelle had to be mindful of her dietary choices, often opting for milder and easily digestible meals to prevent triggering her stomach troubles. Despite the challenges posed by her stomach ailments, Isabelle remained resilient and determined. She had learned to listen to her body, recognizing the signs of distress and taking proactive steps to minimize their impact. Regular exercise, adequate sleep, and practicing mindfulness helped her to cope with the stressors that could exacerbate her symptoms. Isabelle's stomach ailments served as a reminder of the importance of self-care and the need to prioritize her well-being. She understood that managing her condition required a holistic approach, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of her health. The next morning, Isabelle's face looked slightly pale, and even light makeup couldn't improve her complexion. During breakfast, Lindsay looked at her and said, "Ms. Morgan, did you stay up all night thinking about Hugh's matter?" Isabelle pursed her lips and replied, "Yes." Lindsay lowered her head and drank milk, saying, "It's really worrying, and I'm worried too." Isabelle and Lindsay arrived early at the golf course, Hugh had the habit of playing golf on Friday afternoons. Well-prepared and exuding an air of confidence. Her intention was to create a connection and establish a rapport with him, paving the way for a deeper conversation about her objective-bringing him out of retirement. As the day progressed, Isabelle caught sight of Hugh making his way to the first tee. With Lindsay by her side, she calmly approached, her steps purposeful yet unhurried. Isabelle's golf attire exuded a sense of professionalism and competence, and her poised demeanor only added to the intrigue surrounding her presence. Hugh, in his usual fashion, began his rounds, playing with a combination of skill and ease that captured the attention of onlookers. Isabelle, a golfer herself though average, subtly displayed her prowess, catching Hugh's eye. It was a well-timed stroke of her club, executed flawlessly, that piqued his curiosity. Intrigued by Isabelle's performance, Hugh couldn't help but be drawn to her. He approached with a warm smile, acknowledging her abilities. "You're pretty good at this, little girl," he complimented, a playful glint in his eyes. Isabelle responded graciously, displaying a blend of humility and confidence. "Your skills surpass mine," she replied, her voice poised and measured. Captivated by her composure and evident respect for his abilities, Hugh extended an invitation. "Want to play two rounds with an old man like me?" he asked, his smile widening. Isabelle eagerly accepted the opportunity, her expression composed yet filled with anticipation. "Please teach me," she said, her voice laced with genuine curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. As they embarked on their rounds, Isabelle and Hugh engaged in light banter and exchanged golfing tips. Isabelle's genuine interest in improving her game resonated with Hugh, as he recognized her dedication and willingness to learn. Their conversation flowed naturally, with a comfortable camaraderie forming between them. The more they played, the more Isabelle's skills impressed Hugh. Despite their age difference, he began to see her as an equal on the golf course. They laughed intermittently as they played together. Hugh, despite being in his fifties, exuded a youthful charm that made him appear much younger. He possessed an athletic physique, a testament to his dedication to personal care and a healthy lifestyle. His salt-and-pepper hair was neatly styled, adding a touch of sophistication to his overall appearance. With a square jawline and a warm smile, Hugh had an approachable and friendly demeanor. He had a genuine interest in people and would often take the time to listen and offer support. His generous nature extended beyond mere words, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He possessed a strong sense of integrity and fairness, earning him the respect and admiration of those who knew him. Hugh embodied a unique blend of charisma, elegance, and warmth. His appearance, character, and dressing style combined to create an individual who was both approachable and intriguing. Isabelle was humble throughout their conversations and game, and after two rounds, she ended up tying with Hugh. Hugh was impressed and handed her a bottle of mineral water, saying, "Wait a moment, I have a substitute player." Isabelle took the bottle of mineral water and smiled, "Sure, I'm not in a hurry." Although Hugh was older, he had a hint of childishness, saying, "My substitute player is quite skilled. You might cry later." Isabelle smiled gently, "I haven't cried since I was seven." Hugh chuckled, "You've got quite the attitude, little girl." Isabelle returned the smile, wanting to say something friendly, when suddenly a familiar voice sounded from behind. "Hugh, how could you be so unfair? You didn't call me when there's a beautiful lady around." Hugh turned around and glared at Matthew, who was wearing a black shirt and suit pants. "Don't talk nonsense. I saw this little girl playing well and asked her to accompany an old man like me." Matthew loosened the collar of his shirt and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his well-defined muscles. He spoke casually with a smile, "So, it's a chance encounter!" Matthew's comment of "chance encounter" was playful. Isabelle's expression was natural, but Lindsay, who was standing aside, blushed. Lindsay felt guilty and watched the exchange between Matthew and Isabelle, feeling like witnessing a showdown between masters. Knowing Matthew's flirtatious nature, Hugh worried that he might scare Isabelle, so he reassured her with a smile, "Don't be afraid, that's just how he is, but he's not a bad person." Isabelle smiled lightly, "Okay." Being older, Hugh just wanted to enjoy the spectacle when Matthew arrived. "Matthew, play two rounds with the little girl." Matthew raised an eyebrow and looked at Isabelle. "Dare to play with me?" Isabelle pursed her lips and smiled. She didn't say she dared, nor did she say she didn't dare, but her hand holding the golf club was already itching to play. Matthew noticed Isabelle's subtle movement, approached and took the golf club from Hugh's hand, and walked behind Isabelle with a low laugh. "Play well, if you beat me, I'll help you deal with Hugh." Isabelle's grip on the golf club tightened, and she looked back at Matthew, asking with a voice only they could hear, "Really?" Matthew raised his hand, unbuttoning two buttons of his shirt collar. "When have I ever lied to you?" Isabelle remained silent. Matthew smirked, seemingly carefree. "Well, except for that one time, on the bed."
